I agree that Mugabe is a power mad crazy man that has ruined his Zimbabwe and will likely do even more damage before he dies.

That being said, am I the only one that has noticed that Nigeria is the only source for the story? I mean the emails I get from the Nigerian Royal family are nice and all, but I'm still waiting on the money....

I'd just like tI see some proof that Mugabe actually said this, and more importantly, that arrests were made. I can't imagine the Olympians are back in Harare by now.

This just reeks of another Internet myth, or a half truth at best.

I will have to agree with @Royal27 , I don't think there is any truth to the story. On the news here today they being talking about the 68 protesters that were arrested yesterday in Zim, I am sure if the Olympic team had been arrested would make TV.

Don't be too sure about that. You cant believe the polls, they are skewed by the pollsters to make our side discouraged so we will stay home and let the coronation continue for HRC. Trump does have a chance, I would say at least 50-50.

I have no brief at all for Mugabe - quite the contrary - but it never amazes me how stories like this take off.

We are relying solely on a Nigerian report - which has been picked up and repeated endlessly, likely because it sound so good - but which has been denied by the Zimbabwean government (not in itself much) but has also not been corroborated from any other source.

Personally, I only rely on Nigerians when it comes to those letters I seem to keep getting from people who have a bunch of money and want to share it with me. I'm still waiting, but I know one day . . . because Nigerians are always reliable, right?!!

For long range planning purposes for 2024, I was going to wait four years for the results and see if it motivated the next Zimbabwe Olympic team and if efficacy were proven I would suggest it for the 2024 Canadian team.
