MSRP vs Street price of new Win 70 safari 375

I ordered a Winchester mod 70 safari express 416 Remington magnum 2 1/2 years ago and finally received it in April 2025, when I ordered it they said it would ship in about 3 months! Hopefully you'll get yours in October, of this year!
Oh, man. I hope so too.

Yep. My deposit is in, just waiting for it to ship. According to the vendor, sometime in October. Someone else purchased at the same place before me, not sure when, and his is slated to ship in August.
Whose the vendor? I'll take the same chance as you if possible.

The problem with putting down a deposit is that your dealer might not get any allotted to them, even with an open order.

It's possible I suppose, but since they do seem to be in production, I'm not going to worry too much. If October comes and no rifle, I'll ask for my deposit back. Not worried about that being an issue at the place I purchased.

I paid $1440.54 for a brand new one last week from an authorized retailer not named Midway. I was signed up for email notifications and ordered as soon as I got the email that it was in stock. I have yet to receive a shipping confirmation; however, I called and was able to verify that it was in stock when I sent them my FFL’s information. The retailer is reputable as I have ordered many things from them in the past. After shipping, total cost was $1457.49.

Mind sharing retailer name? PM if you prefer.

What craftsmanship problems?

I have had one New Haven and about 4 Portugal .375 H&H Winchester Safaris/Alaskan. Currently own a just off the production line .416 Rem Mag. I have seen no craftsmanship problems and the .375s have been some of the most accurate rifles I’ve owned.

Thanks again to Mark Biggerstaff for getting me the .416.
I just refuse to do the dance of sending a defective gun back and forth for “customer service”… I have been down that road with ruger one too many times so no more ruger guns for me. I would only buy a production gun if I can inspect it in person before paying. This doesn’t always prevent getting a dud, but it sure does help. I have seen some really crooked nonsense with new guns in recent years. This is not exclusive to any particular brand. Winchester is my personal favorite and I’d still need to see it in person before buying. A custom gun may be a different story depending on the maker

He says it better than I can. I’m not picking on Winchester, my favorite. If I wanted to pick on a brand I’d pick on Ruger, so many problems. This is not exclusive to any brand. Quality is inconsistent across the board in recent years and this speaks to a lack of craftsmanship. If 10% of new guns are faulty and you bought 5 guns then chances are fair that are all 5 of yours are good to go. I just wouldn’t buy anything without checking it over thoroughly in person before paying.

So my reputable dealer has just emailed me and cancelled my order due to the rifle being “damaged”.

Here's the target for the NorthForks - 25yds off a bag, iron sights. Hunting leopards over dogs the range won't be more than that.

Flew in an airshow in Smyrna years ago, beautiful country.

Best regards,

Franco
