MOZAMBIQUE: Chapungu-Kambako Safaris

Congratulations on your success, very nice trophies. Great reporting, thanks for sharing your experience.

I hunted in October of 22 with Derren. Had a great hunt like yours. Congrats on the great trophies. Glad you shot that warthog!!

Congratulations on your hunt and thanks for report.

Interestingly I just finished a YouTube video with your PH. I noticed he sets the quad sticks up backwards each time in the video. The back of rifle is supposed to go in the V not the flat rest. That may have played into your difficulty with the sticks. It’s unfortunate you didn’t switch to a tripod if that’s what you’re more comfortable with. Quad sticks are great but they do take some practice.

Thanks 375Fox.

I just watched the second part as well. They had begun filming while we were still in camp. That is not how I using the sticks. Those sticks are also different from the ones I used. My problems were mainly adjusting the sticks to my height after they were set up and then getting my rifle firmly on my shoulder and keeping my stance and elevation. The other issue was the strap adjustment between the sticks was a little too long and I would find my rifle’s swivel stud sitting on the rest.

I am going to get some quad sticks and start practicing with them.

Great hunt ! What was the final verdict on elephant sightings ?

We had 3 confirmed sightings. One of the camp staff was killed by an elephant while we were there. The camp manager and pilot were also harassed by elephants in their tent one night. The general consensus is that it will still take a generation before there is a unable population again.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
