Snows of Kilimanjaro. Hatari. The African Queen. Classics that would never be made today. Each were Hollywood’s version of Africa, but they sure kindled a fire in this boy’s heart! Ended up costing me a small fortune !

Twenty years ago Patrick Swayze starred in a remake which is pretty much unwatchable.

There were several versions of "King Soloman's Mines" filmed over the years. The Stewart Granger/Deborah Kerr version is a favorite, but the Paul Roberson/Cedrick Hardwicke movie isn't bad either. Slight variations on the same basic plot.
