Hey folks

I thought I would introduce you to this manufacturer of wool hunting clothing.

I wanted to get real wool clothes for hunting. I happened across this small company in Sweden and I bought one of their jackets. It's doubling as my winter coat as I needed to replace that. I really like their jacket. Its been cold and this thing is really warm. It completely blocks the wind but I don't feel overly hot on the mild days. I was going to order a pair of pants next. Quality made stuff that looks good from a small family owned business.

CURSES!

How dare you show me a source of exquisite wool gear!!!!!

I am ruined!!!!

I will go bankrupt buying this stuff!!!!!!!!

: )_

Thanks for sharing this - that stuff looks absolutely awesome - guess I will just go sell a kidney and get it over with - LOL!!!!!

Did you see their hunting vest/backpack?!

I am doomed!

@Pheroze. I came across this site also in discussions on a U.K. deer stalking site. Jackets I have aplenty, the trousers have piqued my interest. I generally use Smartwool or Icebreaker base layers through the winter.
nice to see a good recommendation.

I’ll look in to this! As a MN deer stand hunter in December, wool is necessary. I also use merino wool in my running clothing. I just finished a 6 mile run in -26 F windchill.
“There is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.”

I put the coat to the ultimate cold weather test - pitting gas the truck in the wind test! Passed with flying colours andbI was in a tee-shirt under it. It absolutely stops the wind. I have Kuiu and there is no comparison to the noise level, wool is just silent like nothing else.

I've been using this stuff in New Zealand. Been on 100-200km hikes in driving wind and strong wind.

Just brilliant clothing, through and through. Old world craftsmanship, style, and performance rolled into one.

Their 'Vadmal' fabric is pretty special. It consists of 80% silicon-impregnated wool (highly weather resistant and fast drying), and 20% Rayon (which helps boost breathability and wicks away perspiration).

With this Micklagaard gear, you've no longer got to worry about taped seams coming undone, delaminating fabrics, or having to constantly 're-proof' your clothing with sprays. Everything is sewed together, and the fabric is inherently weather resistant.

You get the durability and reparability of traditional wool, paired with the quick drying characteristics and weather resistance typical of modern synthetic fabrics. Pretty amazing stuff!

I've since ditched my expensive Gore-tex outer garments. Yes, they were lightweight and comfortable. But it doesn't take much in the way of scrub-bashing to rip them up, and they simply don't last very long with heavy use. Doesn't matter if you spend $300 or $1000.00.

I suspect Micklagaard's prices will creep up as word gets out.

Nice looking stuff. Has me wanting to add items like this to my wool Filson collection.

Looks like some fantastic winter clothes, I currently use filson, stormy Kromer and surplus Swedish pants, which are all tight weave and double boiled but I may have to look into these, thanks for the info

A few years down the road on these but a quick review of my purchases.
2 years ago on their Black Friday sale I bought a pair of the lined trousers.
Continental size for me would be 54-56. I decided to err on the side of caution and ordered 56.
They arrived, visually they looked great. However the lining (quite thick) has been put into a pair of size 56 trousers making the a sleek fit !
Last year I bought a pair of the basic trousers. They have been a curse ! The tiny belt loops came undone. The stitching from the gusset to the rear of the waistband gave up. The stitching from the gusset to the bottom of the fly packed up. Now the stitching from the gusset down the inside leg is unraveling as is the stitching from the waistband on the left leg.
Caveat emptor I suppose.

I have 4 pairs of their basic trousers. I have never had a single stitch come out. Wear them about town and all day hunting. They have performed great for me.

BTW - the hunting backpack shell loops are large enough to swallow .375 Ruger cartridges!!!!

BeeMaa - Micklagaard is WAY better than Filson!
