Has anyone else wondered how the categories are assigned: e.g. senior, fanatic, ambassador, etc?

I have no complaints about it and am just curious?

I looked around a bit and didn't see any info about it.

Number of posts, category assigned automatically.
Similar system is on other forums, as well.

I have wondered about it as well. I deduced that it seemed to correlate with the number of "messages" a person has.

It would be interesting to see a list of the category/ranks and the number of messages associated with being in that category.

Sometimes I don't get the progression like you are a Veteran, then an Enthusiast. I think. That seems backward to me.

In the end, it doesn't really matter. There are people on here that have a massive amount of posts that have the worst advice and I would never want to share a camp with, and there are people on here with a lot of valuable knowledge and seem like a lot of fun with relatively low posts.

But it would be interesting to see it written out just to know.

I believe it is a combination of posts with favorable responses you can easily see recorded for each member. For example just because a member posts a lot does not mean that member moves up in classification. The responses that member gets to their posts matters a lot.

If it’s the combination of posts and responses, I bet it’s an interesting algorithm…though I don't even understand basic algebra so having that information wouldn't be much use for me.

Does anyone know the complete order of rankings?

There’s an old post somewhere, but it’s like:

New Member 0-50 posts
Member 50-75 posts
Senior Member 75-100 posts
Veteran 100 posts
Enthusiast 250 posts
Fanatic 500 posts
Elite 1000 posts
Legend 2000 posts
Ambassador 5000 posts.

I think reactions factor in, but I don’t remember how.

@BRICKBURN knows

Boy did you hit the nail on the head there.

See:

If you post interesting factual stuff about guns and hunts you advance to the next level. If you post nonsense on the politics thread you go back down.
Politics thread is the worst on the forum, and it has this "join the dark side, my son" appeal. Plus many other crap. I must admit, I get dragged there by gravity on occasion and in my weak moments.

Like the Borg alien syndrome from Star Track.

Some interesting threads hunting related have been deleted, yet this one survives. I dont know why. We are here for hunting passion. Not for political debate.

@BRICKBURN
For your attention. ;)

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
