Massive Gun Collection Sale - Health Issues - 1959 Winchester Model 70

To All Friends and Fellow Enthusiasts,

I’m reaching out today, especially to those who know me personally, to share something difficult. Over the past couple of years, I’ve faced some serious health setbacks, and many include severe orthopedic in nature, that have significantly affected my mobility and overall quality of life.

As many of you know, I’ve always had a deep appreciation for fine firearms and optics, with a particular eye for quality, craftsmanship, and style. With a heavy heart, I’ve come to the point where I need to let go of most of my collection. This isn’t a decision I take lightly, but it’s become necessary given my current condition and facing permanent disabilities.

Before I take anything to auction, or gunbroker or gunsinternational, I wanted to offer them first to this community. I know many of you share the same passion and would value these pieces as much as I have over the years. I am trying to liquidate most everything by hunting season. I am selling stuff locally to friends and acquaintances as well, so there may be stuff spoken for as I listed below.

Among the collection are many shotguns, including classic examples from Merkel, Simson, JP Sauer, and beautifully made Ferlach drilling. There are also high-grade Browning Superposed guns including pigeon grades in .410, along with Berettas, Benelli’s, and many Remingtons—some of which are still unfired and in their original boxes. I also have Ithaca shotguns Flues Guns, Model 37’s and a particularly special Model 42 Winchester Deluxe Skeet Grade from 1941.

In addition to the shotguns, I have quite a number of fine rifles, including custom Model 70s, Mausers, Anschutz Rifles, JP Sauer, Blasers, Sakos, and Brownings, Rugers as well as a large selection of Remingtons including som Model 7600s.. Many of the custom rifles were built by members of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild and are truly one-of-a-kind pieces.

There’s more beyond that, including a range of high-quality optics. If anything mentioned sparks your interest, then keep an eye out on AH. I will try and answer any requests but it really is an overwhelming process, and I have to do my best to go down my lists in order. I’d much rather see these go to people who truly appreciate them than into the hands of anonymous buyers at auction. You may see these posted on Longrangehunting, and 2 other forums as well.

I will start listing guns every few days, as I list them here, if they don’t sell in few days then I will have to post them to gunbroker and or gunsinternational as I need to stay on track to sell everything. I can take electronic payments but PM first. I also take Postal MO, cashiers checks, and zelle. I will not take Personal Checks, I don't have the time to wait for them to clear.

Thank you all for your friendship, support, and shared enthusiasm over the years. It means more than I can put into words.

Warm regards,

Jager_Waffen

It is in spectacular ALL ORIGINAL condition, and the only mark I can find is a bolt rub on the left side from being in the safe. It is pristine and sharp checkering, and bluing is amazing has factory but plate. Comes with Leupold bases and rings. Been a true safe queen. Looks near perfect 98%.

I'm so sorry for your circumstances @Jager Waffen74

That pre-64 is a bargain. I hope someone here buys it for a grandchild's first rifle. It has a lot of soul and is better than any other $1500 rifle on the Internet today. The gun is worth more than your asking price.

I’m so VERY sorry to hear this. I sincerely hope you’ll be able to mitigate at least some of your health issues going forward. This first rifle you’ve posted is very nice and very reasonably priced. GLWS.

Prayers... that's a very difficult situation. One of my senior troops just had a near-identical situation a few months back.

Lovely rifle -- very tempted.

So sorry to hear of your difficulties. Look forward to your listings. May God bless you sir.

@Jager Waffen74 , prayers up for you to deal with the recovery and suffering. You certainly have a great attitude being an open book. My wife went through a less severe accident involving a dumb driver with a cell phone a couple of years ago. Thank God, she is OK.

I think some drivers (idiots) with cell phones can be sometimes as dangerous as Cape Buffalo o_O.

Your photography skills and especially lighting are very nice.
That pre-64 Winchester 70, 243 looks superb.
Looking forward to seeing more of your collection and passing along to some friends.

Good luck with your sales.

Thank you, it definitely is one of the nicest, if not the nicest I have ever owned. It has one little rub mark from a bolt handle on it. Otherwise 99%+ It is a classic for sure!

Very sorry to hear, but pray you keep your spirits lifted. Beautiful rifle. Very tempting. It’s nice you are trying to find good homes for your fine collection.

Prayers for you sir. I bought a scope from you before and you were a great person to deal with and as a Winchester nut I wish that Model 42 was in my price range as it would be sold. Again, Best wishes

Really sorry for your health issues. I purchased a rifle from @Jager Waffen74 before and it was a smooth transaction. I would buy again from him with confidence if he puts something here I can’t live without.
Truthfully, trying to thin my own herd a little. GLWS.

It saddens me to read a post like this, and I pray that you will have the comfort and strength to navigate this time. I know that we'll all eventually reach this point on our journey in some fashion, and hope that we can make the most of it until that day comes.

I had a transaction with this gentleman a few months back and he was great to deal with; and i have observed his genuine enthusiasm and love for this pursuit through his posts in this community for awhile now. I wish him the best, and hope that each and every item goes to a new steward worthy of its prior owner.
