Mark Sullivan the Expose’

How about intentionally not finishing them when they are wounded? That seemed so obvious with the famous “charge” at the end of Black Death that seemed to have started all his horsesht. Does that count? Each time magically getting all situated and ready with the cameraman in right position for the inevitable charge upon the approach. Not hard at all for me to make a judgment! To sell numbers of charge videos, seems you may have to create them or have I been missing something?

Outfitters are salesmen are they not? Trying to sell their services and an experience. If they’re not a salesman then they’re in the wrong business. I’m not disparaging “people” in the industry. Right now I’m stating my OPINION on MS. Might I suggest you think a bit more before posting a thread about a controversial figure like him and the fact that there will undoubtedly be negative opinions expressed..

I tell you what. If they ever bring the DSC convention back to Dallas and you come to it I’ll buy you a beer and we’ll see if we’re still on fighting terms over something I said about your “friend”.

Also, from the tone of your post, the fact that this is Saturday night and the posts you’ve shared in the whisky thread it may be best to take a hiatus from posting further.
You see! Right there! And normally I’d say “right there my friend”, but you are what you are! And you are trying to provoke a response SMH INHAVE NO PROBLEM MEETING YOU OR anyone here and have many! You are acting like a sad member here pal and I don’t think very many think much of you right now!
I put up a post of a friend of mine that you have shown who you are in! You will NEVER account for anything he has accomplished and couldn’t stand in his shadow!!!

I doubt you will be invited to many hunts or visits with by other AH members yet I on the other hand have hosted many AH members at my house and have hunts planned with them! You?

So to answer NO Mark is a Hunter first! A PH second! And enjoys telling his stories though published books and video third!

I’ll again ask you to stop the name calling and disparaging remarks towards others on this forum! We don’t conduct ourselves here that way!

First, take some deep breaths. Next, do a minuscule amount of proofreading. Lastly, I think it’s quite obvious MS is a hunter first! He shoots all his clients animals! ;)

I’m not gonna go along to get along. If members aren’t too fond of me at the moment that’s fine. It wouldn’t be the first time. I would think a friend of MS could appreciate that.

Is he on this forum? I don’t think I’ve made any disparaging remarks about any members.

“We don’t conduct ourselves here that way!”
Says the guy who’s expressing interest in fisticuffs.

Keep digging

Earlier you told me to clean my act up. Might I suggest you do the same. That ol whiskey’ll get a man riled up.
Are you insinuating that I’m drinking and need to clean up off the whiskey lol And I know you are, but I just want you to say it and stop trying to be clever…
Shameful that you are allowed here!

I was insinuating that lol. Partaking of the sauce would be an acceptable explanation for the nature of your posts.

Also, I know one thing MS has succeeded at that I haven’t…….. Getting someone else to pay for his DG hunting!!

Good luck in life, you’re gonna need it smh

So I’ve obviously seen that Mark has been controversial here and I’m sure other places. ............
This type of thread instantaneously draws that controversy and other very strong opinions out of the dark corners. Opinions, everybody has one.

PS. Try to maintain some sort of focus on the subject.

No one criticizes getting in close on the first shot. The criticism is the attempt to instigate a charge. The criticism is also not taking the first ethical shot to put down wounded game. Getting in close to instigate a charge isn’t showing some kind of respect to the animal it’s just satisfying someone’s ego.

The only thing I find odd (actually really sad) is the lack of ethics continually on display here among many members. Ethics and holding a standard are important. Letting everyone do whatever they want led to men in women’s sports and all the other ridiculous social issues we currently have.
I have a couple of his videos somewhere (they are not the early ones, nor have I seen any early ones), does he instigate and provoke a few changes yes. I have no problem with someone throwing a few sticks at a hippo or kicking up dirt at a buffalo (these were unwounded animals in the videos I have). Where is this unethical?

How many of you fillet or scale a fish alive? Is this unethical? What about bow hunting whitetail and waiting 30 plus minutes for it to die?

In the videos I have, I do not believe there is any evidence of unethical first shots.

How much more respect can one give to DG, than to get in close and give the animal a fighting chance? Shooting a buffalo at 100 plus yards doesn’t make it more ethical. If anything you’re not even playing on the same level as the buffalo, he’s probably unaware of your existence.

Maybe you should read the thread again. Specifically his comments to a member on hunting bear.
Did not see the bear hunting one.

Maybe you should also read back through the thread, there are lot of people with first hand experience that say otherwise.

There is not member commenting that has hunted with the man. I don’t doubt he’s an entertaining story teller in person.

You are correct on first shots, I have no problem with him hunting his way. The problem that many have is not shooting a dying wounded animal at the first opportunity. Where is the decency in that? As for Mark’s brown bear comments, I didn’t hear them myself but I actually know @WAB and he is a gentleman of the first order and if he says it happened, it happened. Mark’s bear comments are nothing but ludicrous and unchecked bravado.

Here’s a brown bear shot by Mark with his .375 Holland & Holland Magnum Lon Paul custom piece (built on a pre ‘64 Winchester Model 70 action), loaded with 270Gr Barnes TSX custom loads. He hunted this fellow with a mutual friend of ours whom I know for upwards of 25 years. Bear took one Barnes TSX behind the shoulder and went down. No charges.

Knowing him as I do, it’s hardly surprising that he would say something along the lines of “Let’s get a brown bear to charge”. But out of all of the brown bears Mark’s shot over the years, only one actually had to be shot during a charge. And that genuinely wasn’t Mark’s fault.

As we know there is so much misunderstanding on this thread!
I’d hope to soothe some of it but I can see that there are those that won’t let go sadly…
And with being called a drunk by an idiot millennial that has zero knowledge of any players here or a grasp on reality I think @Hunter-Habib I failed in what I tried to do…
So I apologize to Mark and all of our friends! @Hunter-Habib I really thought that the forum would be more accepting but I was sadly wrong! I’ll leave with this and hope the thread will die!

A Judgemental Society

We live in a judgemental society
Where the real you is only abstract.
From a young age we are taught to believe
That only society can define how you act.
We live in a judgemental society
Where no one seems to win.
Forced to be someone society defines,
The real you fades within.

From one American PH to Another... well done Mark! After all these year you still have them stirred up!

Each PH has a style, and Mark's is unmistakably him. His personality may not be for everyone, but folks that get shit done are seldom liked by everyone.

Hunting style... like ethics, religion and women; to each his own and you should only choose for yourself.

He has been treated poorly by the African hunting community and treated unfairly by 'clubs' in various way over his long career. Sad that we don't stand up for each other - there are way bigger threats to the safari hunting industry than other PHs.

Like him or hate him he has generated more interest in hunting Africa than anyone alive today.
I'd have to disagree with you on your last point.
Dr Kevin Robertson would have generated an equal amount of interest if not more with his books.
"The perfect shot"

I’m not sure why salesman is such an insult. Almost everyone in the hunting industry is a salesman to some degree they are selling hunts or gear or something so they have to market it.
