Management Elephant Bull Hunt In The Caprivi Namibia 2023

I am just a dumb farm boy, but I will be sozzled if I can imagine why I would pay the big end of $20k to shoot an animal that I can not bring the trophy home.
Bring your abuse, tell me what a troglodyte I am, but I just truly don't get it.
If I can't eat it, I AT LEAST want to be able to look at it.
Apparently you’ve never hunted elephants before. Start a separate thread if you want to debate this.

If I wasn’t already booked to hunt the Selous in 8 weeks, I’d be all over this offer.

Who did your replica tusks if you don’t mind sharing?
I’ll have to get the name from my wife who handled the paperwork, But it was through the taxidermist that Karl recommended. Sorry for chopping off my head. But seriously, zero regrets. If I didn’t have a trip planned with my son next year for his graduation I would take Karl up on this offer.

davetexas,

Thanks for sharing the info on the replicas. I am booked for a non-trophy/non-exportable elephant bull in 2025 in Namibia and I would very much like to have replicas made if I am able to get a bull. How long did it take to get them done and shipped back home?

+1 I think those replicas are great

This is a very nice offer and if I did not already have a hunt planned for 2024 I would be jumping on this opportunity. I hunted a non-exportable bull in Namibia in 2020 and it was a great hunt and I had replica tusks done to commemorate the hunt. I think hunting tuskless or non exportable bulls is an affordable option to hunt elephant which IMO is one of, if not most adrenaline packed hunt one can do.

I just got back from an ele hunt in Zimbabwe. I`m from Australia,so I wouldn`t be allowed to bring any ele parts home. Even if I could,I wouldn`t have because of the expense. I was there for the hunt, not the trophy.

Story and pictures please!!! Bet you had an awesome hunt!

First three days were gaining info on where they were and where they were likely to be.It was getting frustrating by the end of day two and the PH could pick up on how I was feeling about it. He told me it was common for a client to feel this way,but don`t worry,it`s important to gather the information. When you havent seen a suitable ele (we saw a few tuskless cows, but I wanted a bull) for three days, you start to feel a little concerned that you may not see a chance on what you came to get. The PH said at the end of day three that he was confident that there was a good chance by the next day we would see some suitable bulls(I thought he was trying to raise my spirits). After driving around the lease for about four hours on day four,a tap on the roof and the vehicle stopped and the driver told me that they spotted ele. We went walking and I couldn`t see them, but the guides and PH knew exactly were they were. We had walked about 400 metres and stopped, then I could see them, they were around 75 metres away. They were about 450 metres from another lease, and had they continued to move they may have ended up on the other lease,so it was now or never. The PH told me to wait until the one he pointed out offered a heart/lung shot. He offered,I took. Immediately the PH shot as well, and the herd all run toward the other lease(bad for us)but fortunately for us, the one we hit run in a semi circle and stayed within the lease we were allowed to shoot on. We ended up putting in at least another four shots each whenever he offered and then he stopped,we were about to put more in and he dropped.A magnificent sight to see him come down. I wish I could have taken him with one side brain shot, but it wasn`t to be.Once he was hit and started to run,the rule is keep shooting until he falls. After he was down I gave him a brain shot and then we were done. I wish I was a better story teller, but it is what it is. I hope you like the pics.

I’ve done 3 non exportable bull hunts with Karl in the last 7-8 years. Accompanied my BIL on 2 more. He runs a first rate operation, is an excellent PH, and a lot of fun to hunt with. His areas have tons of elephants, never needed more than 3 days to get the job done, usually less. This is a great deal if it’s still available.

A good picture and get it blown up and framed so you can see it (as well as your hunting mates) can go a long way to not having anything to bring home, especially when the price is so reasonable.

Absolutely! I did a Rhino Dart & it's the most exciting & unique experience I've had. I'm having a 3-D skull with measurements, scars & Hand Painted to match the Big-Fella's exact appearance.
That sounds like the perfect way to do it if you can`t afford a real rhino hunt. Good for you.

Is that the Selous in Matabeleland?

You will never be So Alive as slipping into a Herd of Elephant. It is Worth it!!!
Never so alive because you may end up never so dead. Gets the adrenaline flowing. And when they have an opinion of you (invariably a negative one) it`s virtually impossible to sweet talk them out of having homicidal thoughts about you. They are foreign to the thought of negotiation.

It is a falsehood that you can not bring back ivory. Yes there has been a huge backlog from no permits being issued for years (thanks Trump) but they are now issuing permits. SCI won in court on this issue. It will continue to be difficult to import most of the big 5 but that should not stop people from hunting.

I hunted a management bull with Karl in 2021. Highly recommend!! I had a set of replica tusks made for $600 in Africa. Except for the weight you can't tell them apart. Zero regrets......
I recently returned from an ele hunt and after reading your post,I`m kicking myself for not thinking of getting replica tusks made. Thanks pal! You ruined my day! Some would say I ruined it myself for not thinking of it at the time, but I prefer to blame you. You see,I`m not the responsibility for my own mistakes taking type person ergo,it`s all YOUR fault! Whats next? The outrageous claims that Bill has a roving eye for the ladies and Killary, sorry Hillary is unethical and can get people suicided? When will the madness end?

Unfortunately for me,the Australian government is immovable on the ban on all things pachyderm.

At least the Australian government hasn’t “Sozzled” you yet. Maybe in a couple years I could pull this off-what an experience you could have at a steal of a price

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
