Magnum Primers

I totally disagree. I laid in 10,000+ primers when there was no shortage and still plenty on the shelves for anyone who wanted to buy them. Am I a hoarder? Perhaps. But I laid in reloading components when no one was going short. When things got tight, I went through my supplies and sold everything I didn’t need at pre-shortage prices. To each his own, but be cautious casting judgement.
@WAB
I got 100 federal magnum primers for 6 bucks to try in my Whelen with 748. A dismal failure I might ad, so they just sat in my drawer. @peter Who acquired a 404 and needed magnum primer when none were available. I gladly gave him the 90 odd I didn't use for free. Dang 6 bucks ain't gonna break me.

I went in today to see what primers I need, there was a brick of Federal small pistol magnums that had the price tag still attached. $36.99, I had to think for a second after shaking my head for several minutes, Have I really had those for that long? No, I have not! You can literally watch prices increase!!

The availability of primers is also problematic for us.
Allegedly, the production lines are needed for the Ukraine war.
Truth or fiction-the high prices are unfortunately a reality.
All reloading components are rare and expensive.
CCI 200 and CCI 250 and the like are very hard to come by.
I found what I was looking for on egun.
The well known dealers, even if they don't offer it on the net, often still have a few smaller stocks that are not worth the work of putting them on the net.
So I would try it once.
Its worth a call.

Thanks Bob…completely agree, outrageous!!! I am shooting weekly now so am using up primers quickly. I seem to always still find powder, brass and bullets. It’s just primers that are crazy to find anywhere
@Rare Breed
Before the shit hit the fan I laid up 6,000 LR primers and 6,000 SR primers.
In hind sight should have laid up 10 or 20 pounds of adi 2205/H110. That stuff if you can get it they are asking for up to 2,000 dollars for a 2# jug. Shotgun powder is the same price.

Scheels in DFW doesn’t have any large rifle magnum if anyone was wondering. I just want to be able to load up some 404 loads:cry:

Awesome job on primers!

Cabela's is showing CCI LRM primers in stock at the moment. I just ordered 1,000. Hopefully they actually have them. I did the ship to store to save the hazardous freight fee so I'll know if 5-8 days if they actually have them.

Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
