This is the result of what happens when wild life (in this case, the elephant population) isn't correctly managed and everything is left in the hands of the government and green conservationists.

This what is happening in various parks here
It is very sad yet easily solvable

The government keeps trying to clamp down on private operators to put checks and balances in place but cant even manage their own reserves at all!!!

Correct instead of looking to the future they keep trying to keep the red tape going to feel that bit of power.

This is really sad news. Been there with the family at Morukuru lodge in 2016. After visiting Pilanesberg, Madikwe was an even better experience.

It's very ugly to see animals starving and suffering, especially due to mis-management. That area will take a long time to recover IF they start working on it.

My son and I had a great visit to Madikwe 2 years ago. He noticed quickly how on the other side of the property real trees were evident and inside the park the elephants had done their work. I asked the guide if they think about culling and his comments were they were afraid it would make the elephants angry.

Did a three day photo safari there in 2018 and it was starting to look very bad then so I am not surprised to see it come to this level of a mess.

You look at some parts of kruger and it is starting to get bad also. A solid management plan to not exceed the carrying capacity for elephants is especially important.

Allparks with elephants are heading this way if not therealready
If u go on maps with a satellite view its painfully visible how bad these parks are
One side of the fence trees and grass etc
Other side destruction

“It will make elephants angry”” OMG, herein lies the problem

Offering a special culling prices would help start fixing the problem. Plus give the parks a infusion of cash to put a solid management plan in place for recovery long term. Replanting to get the reforesting started isn't a quick process but a much needed on.

That solution is far too simple and doable for these muppets
It must have tons of red tape and years of scientific studying(bullshit) before the baton can be passed on to another bunch of muppets so that nobody can make a decision and actually make an improvement

This is so disturbing! Thanks Johan for bringing it to our attention.

SCI should start a campaign to boycott Kruger and every other park until the government considers shutting them down for a year of culling. Perhaps the Ivory and hide goes to the government as an additional incentive.

This is horrible.
These results should be thrown at the feet of all those disney loving NGO's and the do-gooder politicians whose spineless decisions are creating these catastrophies.

We as hunters must stop making excuses for what we do or how we do it and stand up against these green muppets and hold them responsible for the state that our countries are in. We'll have to speak up and make them liable for their dumb ideas. We need to stand up and take control again, for too long we stood back and let them manage everything to disaster.

True "Green" policy at work......

"We have managed this eco system into collapse... now give us more money!"
You might consider looking up their positions and who runs the organization before assuming too much from a name. They aren’t the ones mismanaging the reserve just highlighting the situation. I looked them up because I was wondering where money would go.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
