Lowering firing pins with barrels removed?

I don't happen to have a piece of buffalo horn lying around, and it seems Jeff's Outfitters is closing up shop, so I'm not likely to buy one.

I do, on the other hand, have an extra hockey puck. Lots of extra hockey pucks. Good vulcanized rubber, 3 inches in diameter, 1 inch in thickness, about 5.5 to 6 ounces...
