Looking for more reach then my .375 ..options?

I absolutely love my model 70 in
375 h&h but i want a caliber that is equivalent in power but has longer reach out and touch them range... Opinions?
300PRC would be a good one. But you can get it done with the .375 H&H, .375 248gr Hammer Hunter can be loaded to 3000fps ish in the .375 H&H. That would be a legit 600yd plus gun.

If you have an accurate rifle and can range and dial the .375's will go pretty far.

With modern scopes ability to dial up to exact ranges, a range finder and the appropriate app on your phone a good rifleman/woman can hit target at some very long ranges. The ethics of long range shooting is one you have to answer to yourself. IE DO I TRULY have the skills to execute a long range shot to cleanly harvest my target animal. Is my rifle capable. (In my opinion long range rifle need to be able to shoot 1/2 MOA at worst). Will my shooting position provide the necessary stable shooting platform to make the shot. along with environmental factors. etc.

I have been working on this idea myself for a few years now. Tried a 338 win mag, didn't get me to where I thought I wanted to be. Have been shooting 375 H&H with CEB 235 gr Safari Raptors with good success. I just loaded about 100 yesterday. 73 gr IMR 4064, CCI 250 primer, new RP cases. Ruger #1 H, getting 2875 fps. This load is safe in my rifle, not a max load. I am not looking for long range performance, just flatter shooting with good performance with a little less recoil. I have killed 2 cow elk with this load, terminal performance is outstanding. I think this load would work for anything short of cape buffalo. Something along this line would be an outstanding plains game load.

260gr Accubond running towards the upper end is very easy shooting out to 300ish range. I do it all the time on the range, not itching to do it on game, but the combo is very capable of it.

Your 375 has about the same trajectory as a 30-06 with I consider to be excellent. Ream it out to 375 AI and get a bit more, maybe.
The above poster is right about the CEB long range bullets. CEB has chart on their website to check for required twist rate for their long range bullets. This is important.

338 RUM if you can handle it, otherwise 338 lapua, should get you out to 1000yds and have no problem putting down the biggest of brown bears.

If ammo or brass are available where you're at a 9.3x64 may be something to look at.

Ha! I think that load would also probably work for Cape buffalo!
I would expect that to really work well on cow elk. I’ve shot (or witnessed) elk with 6.5cm, .270 win, 7 mm rem mag, .30-06 and .300 WM. My favorite is the 7 mm. I can only imagine the effectiveness of a .375 at 300 yards or less.

For the PG hunting I have done, a .375 with the same bullet as DG works great. The 300 gr barnes is my favorite.

Using sticks in africa limits my PG distances. I’ve only shot prone for hippo and croc. For western NA hunting, 9 out of 10 shots are prone.

So a number of guides here in Alaska prefer the 375 Ruger to the venerable H&H. I had one contact me about maybe custom building one for him to test and he had some very crucial guidelines (pun intended) ie: control round feel, side flag 3 pos safety, 20-22” barrel 7-8lbs and open sights…. Would prefer carbon barrel but not if I can’t get open sights on it.

338 Rum with factory 250gr LRX
338 Lapua with Factory 300gr Sierra Matchking

Just have your gunsmith rechamber your rifle for the 375 Weatherby (not the 378 Weatherby!) You'll still be able to shoot factory 375 H&H ammo if you wish and factory 375 Weatherby ammunition or handloads will get you 2800 fps with a 300g bullet. You'll be pushing 3000 fps with a 270g bullet.

I haven't because living in canada it would be impossible to obtain
There are at least two CEB dealers in Canada. I’m sure they could bring in an order for you.

George’s Shooting Shack and Hirsch Precision

You already have the rifle to do what you want. As has been already stated, drop down in bullet weight, such as Barnes TSX in 235 or 250 gr and it will provide you enough energy to drop moose/bear at reasonable distances.
Of course, if you are just wanting to buy a new rifle then that is fine too .

I shot a big eland at a laser-measured 344 yards with a 375 H&H, 300gr A-Frame. He took one step. Are you looking for more range and power than that?

You don’t indicate how far reaching out and touching someone is, so I’ll make a guess between 400 and 500 yds or so. To do that with your .375H&H you will need to change your bullet. A weight of 250gr’s to 270gr’s would probably work best for what you want it for. But even with those the key factor, in my opinion, is that the bullets BC needs to be a G1 of .4 or higher. Barnes, Nosler, Hornady, CEB and Hammer are the bullet manufatuers I would look to.

My .375H&H load is 299gr Hammer (shock) Bullet, G1.477 @ 3.60”, GM215M, 71.0gr’s CFE223. I average 2580fps. That should get me, at sea level, to 450yds with 2,200 ft-lbs +/-.
350-400 yards with good energy to put down a moose

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
