Looking for .375 for Dangerous Game... Do They Exist?

What is everyone's thoughts on a 20" barrel vs 23"+ for DG?
I didn't read all 5 pages of this thread so forgive me if I'm repeating.

The 375 Ruger is about 200 fps faster than the standard 375 H&H load. It was designed to give the same performance out of a 20" barrel as the H&H out of 24". The Ruger M77 Hawkeye Guide Gun being the prime example. I have one I've taken to AK for grizzly.

For Africa I much prefer my Winchester M70 375 H&H.

@Just Gina has a black plastic stocked M70 375 she's talked about selling;)

Ho cercato Ruger Hawkeye African, Winchester Model 70 Safari e CZ Safari express.
  • Cos'altro dovrei cercare in design, calibro, ecc?
Aperto a suggerimenti su quali opzioni ci sono per trovare un fucile di livello DG di qualità. Grazie in anticipo.

I have some larger bolt guns in 375 H&H, (Win M-70) 458 Win (Ruger M-77) and a 416 Rigby ( on Rem 1917 Enfield action)

I love those guns but nothing, and I mean nothing spell Class like a Fine English Double.

But to hunt with one, manners dictate you wear a tie and a tweed suit. :D

if you buy a rifle for your future african safari's one of the main things to keep in mind is the availability of ammo. the 375H&H double ammo is not very common over here.

the 416 rigby and the 450 rigby seems the thing. although the most common over here in africa must certainly be 1. 375H&H 2. 9.3x 62 3. 458 variants.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
