Load info for Browning BLR

the 300wsm runs 168gn Berger VLDs with 64gns of AR2209 giving me 3150fps and hole in hole accuracy... my last outing got me a big fallow buck with a 388m heart shot...

What caliber is your BLR? 30-06?

Here's a good article on the Browning BLR in 243 from Realguns.com
Part 1 https://www.realguns.com/articles/810.htm
Part 2 https://www.realguns.com/articles/811.htm

Takedown version in 325 WSM

Another review, this one for a 30-06

@375 Ruger Fan
There's NO such thing as a good article in the 243 UNLESS they are telling you how useless that cartridge is.
The BLR is a nice rifle but terrible trigger that's an easy fix. A mate uses one in 325wsm for camel to great effect

1. Browning BLR tend to have tight chambers.
2. Lever guns close by camming so they do not have the power of a bolt action.
RCBS makes small base dies.
Graham, BLR’s use a rotating bolt head same as bolt actions. The biggest concern loading for the BLR is to make sure you are not pushing the shoulders back as this can lead to light primer strikes. The 165 grain is a great bullet for wild boar. I have a couple of boxes of NOS round nose hornadys that are devestating on wild boar. I use 3031 powder in these loads.

Sorry stupid of me. It is 308 win. Also it will be used for driven boar not seven that was the bloody pre-empt text.

@MarkCZ
CFE223 give the 165s a set of balls in the 308 with great velocities and accuracy.
@sgt_zim has load details for that weight that are outstanding.

I'm pushing Speer Gold Dot 168 gr at around 2880 fps on 47.2 gr CFE223, COAL is the standard 2.80" for 308 Win. My 308 does have a 24" barrel, so that's probably helping a little.

If you're worried that's too hot, back off to about 43.2, then do a ladder in 0.5 gr increments to 47.2 until you're satisfied it isn't too much pressure.

I feel a BLR in .308W is calling for a place in my safe.

I have always had good results with H-4895 with 150-165 bullets in the .308. I have had 3 BLRs. Two in .358 Winchester, one from 1980 and one a Lightweight Take Down, and a 7mm08 pistol grip model. I have never had to use small base dies in any rifle! Levers, bolts, single shot, or semi auto.

My hunting buddy and his son have been using BLR ‘06 rifles with the 165gr. Sierra BTSP for many years and have shot pronghorn, deer, elk and one moose with them. They’ve used both handloads and Federal factory ammo.

4895 is good but I have found varget gives better accuracy but a little bit less velocity.
If'n y'all want the 308 to sing then CFE223 is the go. My son's Howa gives 2,900fps with 150gn accubonds and less than half inch groups out of a 22" barrel

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
