Little thought of packing items

Ok I bought and tried some of the Nuun tablets!! Is there a flavor that doesn’t taste like alka seltzer cold and flu!! Tried strawberry lemonade and orange mango. They were both bad.:sick::sick:

One pair of clothes I would suggest bringing extra of is a good pair of socks in my experience they get wet and sweaty you cant use them for awhile or they get sandy if its on the inside you might as well just throw them out. A good pair of socks can prevent blisters (bring moleskin though just in case you do). Sorry I forgot which type of cloth it was but just make sure your socks don't retain sweat easily that can be nasty.

FLhunter7, I wear wool socks all seasons. They don’t stink as bad as cotton or synthetic. They wick moisture away from my feet (I have sweaty feet). And they dry fast. If I’m hiking a lot (such as hours in the mountains), I’ll wear a very thin polypropylene inner sock to help keep any abrasions/hot spots from starting. Most of the time an inner sock isn’t needed.
I also keep a roll of athletic/first aid tape with me to patch any hot spots before the can get bad.

I liked the discontinued Camelbak Elixer and don't care for Nuun flavor either.

Now I'm using Skratch drink mix; downside is its a bulk powder so I used some pill baggies to make up some to carry as you don't need much for typical water bottle; the individuals were out of stock.

Did a hunt in over 100* heat daily and it worked for me.

Took the Nuun tablets last time we went to the FL Keys to flats fish, and they are a special kind of gross. I later found Ultima electrolyte powder, and it tastes at least 75% better. It's a little less portable, in a plastic tub with a scoop, but it mixes better and tastes better by far.

Duct Tape. Seriously. I use it to prevent blisters on my feet and to fix stuff. I saved a hunt once when the sole of my boot tore off. The tape held on great until I could make it back to town for a new pair of boots. Rather than taking a huge roll, buy a small travel size roll, or simply roll some onto a short dowel rod.

I actually took a new roll of duct tape with me to South Africa. Then before my flight home I left it with the outfitter along with all the other things that I had brought over for the hunt. His wife loved it.

That tape along with WD40 has thousand of uses.

Ginger balls and spearmint and/or wintergreen lifesavers. PHs say they can't get them in RSA and love them!

Small bright flashlight/headlamp, Second Skin (blisters) and lens cleaning kit.

Thanks guys! I leave in 32 days for first trip and you all have said items I had not thought of.
Best of luck on your first Africa hunt! You’ll be returning again! Enjoy!

extra money for the animals not on your list but become a must have and shorty shorts to make sure you aren't feeling overdressed compared to your PH
Have a great trip, i am on my third visit in a couple of weeks

For me it was bedroom slippers/camp shoes. Get up in the middle of the night to answer nature and the tile floors were COLD!! Seriously, I'd loved to have them around camp!

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
