While on vacation last weekend I found a used bookstore near my sister in laws house. Added the following titles to my home library. Hunter, African Hunter, African Rifles and Cartridges, Ivory Ghosts, The White Lions of Timbavati, Among the Elephants, Maneater, and Maneater of India. Some of these were titles I already had, just earlier editions and I like old books. Anyone else read any good books recently?

Just finished "The elephant hunters of the Lado" by Major W. Robert Foran.

I am an addict to old African hunting books.

I am always reading (currently reading The Excorcist), but never seem to find any books on African hunting. I would love to read those. I guess I'll have to look harder!

Not much of a reader, but books like these would certainly peak my interest. nice finds!

Nice books! I recently finished white hunters by Brian Herne- not an old book, but an entertaining read on the history of the white hunter in east Africa

Well folks, today is world book lovers day, so, if you have had your eye on a particular title, splash out on it today! (Support a book a second hand book seller!)

Just finished up with" Hunting the elephant in Africa, and other recollections of thirteen years' wanderings, by Captain C. H. Stigand". A very good read if you enjoy the books from days gone by.

Wisinwings, where was this bookstore? Do difficult to find good Africa hunting books on the shelf anymore due to the internet. Really like used book stores.

Check out abebooks.com if you want that "found an old book at the local bookstore" experience. I buy all my africa books on abe. Abe is a network of independent bookstores and antiquarian art dealers. You put in a title, whether you want first edition, where you'll buy from globally, etc. and it pops up every copy. You then pay abe with CC instead of some sketchy dealer you've never heard of before in a far flung location.

I've bought some of my africa books for as cheap as $2-$3 delivered. Highly recommended.

Ragman,
If you need any further info on the main character in the exorcist, let me know, I was married to her for 13 years!

Just acquired a first edition of Ruark's UHURU, definitely a wonderful book, written only as Ruark could. Not quite halfway through it.
Cheers,
Cody

Have used Abebooks.com since 2005.

You'll have to tell me about it at @gizmo's sometime!

Happened across this today. By John Guille Millais
It's a 1987 reprint of the 1895 book.

From the looks of it, good reading and phenomenal artwork by the author.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
