I have a Whitworth Express in 375 H&H that I am working on a scope mounting solution for, using a vintage Leupold Vari-X II 2-7x glossy finish scope. The problem is that based upon the way the rifle receiver was drilled and tapped (I assume from the factory?), there isn't quite enough windage adjustment in this old Leupold scope to get it on target. Rather than get a different scope, I was first wanting to try the Leupold STD bases that have built-in windage adjustment to the rear base. However, the Leupold website indicates that these bases are only recommended up to 300 Win Mag. So my question is, is that a hard limit; or is it conservative, and there are folks using these bases with 375 H&H with no issue? I'm hoping for the latter, hence my post here to see if any members have tried using Leupold STD 2-piece bases with anything over 300 Win Mag.
