My wife and I have both shot what I would call normal trophy size Kudu.
Last year in Zim we were riding in the truck, checking leopard bait when it all white kudu 55 inch Ish was spotted. We quickly parked and went back after the Bull. We had dangerous game calibers and a .308 for shooting bait. I was handed to .308
We caught up to the bull and the sticks were thrown up several times and we would sneak further. Finally, I have the bowl in my cross hair. She is facing me straight on at about 150 yards. He is all white, but you can see his black stripes on the face and side clearly.
I had 100 grain CEB Safari raptor bullets loaded, and to that point had not shot anything with those bullets. So not being confident in that bullet and the angle I held off waiting for a better angle that did not come. The bull disappeared.
After that day, I shot six Impala with that bullet and learned that it would have easily handled that Kudu with a frontal shot and regretted not shooting.
I asked the pH several times to go after the bull and he said the trackers did not feel right about shooting an all white bull. they felt held a special meaning so he was deemed off limits. Probably for the best as I did not need another Kudu and it wasn’t worth disrupting the harmony on the team.
