Leopards!!!

the sad thing for aussies is wayne we cant bring them into australia .
when i was in africa nicko my ph said that if they were the size of a lion nobody would hunt them with a bow .and they were the only cat that didnt growl brfore they attacked .
where did you order the book into the thorns from please bloke
sounds like a must read ....
when im in brittish columbia in september i will be asking the outfitter about a mountain lion hunt with a bow on the hounds

DOCMAN, I jst finished reading that article you kindly put up. I would've throw the client out in the bush, let the leopard have him and then shot the leopard. Strike me pink, it sounds like the Roman colosseum; (Lions 6 Christian Nil) I see what you mean about leopards.

Hey Docman, I saw that video. To say that I was astounded would be an understatment. I had no idea just how violent such a situation could be become. There is only one other animal that can wreck your day totally; and that animal is your woman!!!!! She can tear strips off you in a minute. Charge from cover in a second and completely gut in a statement. Nahhh, I think I will hunt leopards, it's safer.
Man thats a harsh assessment of the gentler? sex (ahhh...true but).
Never thought I'd want to hunt cat's but have changed my thinking. I'd love to have a crack at leopard but as far as I know we can't bring any spotted cat back to Oz. Anyone out there know different?

Who said that they aren't here. I could tell you some stories about felids in Aussie when we've got some time. As for the book Bluey, I googled "Into the Thorns", and look for TROPHY BOOK ROOM and click on that. O.K. Mate? Let me know if you have any problems.

Hi messmate. It's true. Next time your out and about, look at these young peices strutting their stuff. Then you have a look at the young bloke with them. It's pitiful. Then have a look at your own bride and watch her. Ever noticed when they've got something on the mind; some transgression that you have committed, they growl and strut. Then suddenly they're on ya. Scratching and screaming. Then they come out with a cutting statement that guts ya. Not satisfied, they jump all over your head and muck with your mind, until, bleeding, shredded and broken we are made to crawl away to the doghouse. No, hunting leopards is definitley safer.
As for leopards, I'd like to have a crack at one once I feel confident of placing my shot exactly where it's got to go. That's one beastie that I'd hate to have to follow up wounded. Yes sireeee.

That's hilarious!

I'm glad Mate. Life to hard at times to take seriously, so I study people. It's great fun to watch the human of the species do totally stupid things, thats why I like wildlife. There's nothing stupid or dumb about what they do, if they do, they become some animals dinner or panther poop.

..indeed. Although I've never tried a 'riffle' :biggrin2: ..I always had a 12 gauge pump very, very close at hand..!

The ideal weapon would be an assault rifle with an aimpoint and a well versed operator! :m16: My old 7.62mm FN served so well here again! Each to his own, but following up a well wounded cat is also best done at night using strong reliable spot lights or torches. Reason being that a pass over the cats eyes in the dark will point the cat out like a traffic sign (OK not a Zim traffic sign maybe!!). Once the lights brought to bear, the cat is then also 'night blinded' by the light and gives a good aiming reference. But it's not for the faint hearted! Note to remember!: carry your own torch and spare batteries!
Wounded DG Cats followups have been known to loosen the most reluctant of stooles!

Wayne1, Wayne of Into the Thornes is still alive and very much still hunting the Leopards of Matobo hills!

Thanks Ole Bally, it's great to get the experiences of others. It's good that Wayne Grant is still doing what he does best. I've ordered the book and just waiting for it to arrive. Thanks Mate

Wayne1,
If you get to SCI DOWNUNDER show next year find Mbalabala Safaris booth and have a chat to Charlie or Lindon Stanton. Two very experienced Leopard PHs from Ole Bally's neck of the woods.

Thanks classicsafari. Thats very kind of you and I will do it. Also I'd like to THANK all you Guys on the forum. The amount of information and help I've received is amazing. Thankyou ALL, and you too Diamondhitch.:first:

Hello Doug,
I am Philippe from France and plan to go hunting Caprivi in 2026, Oct.
I have read on AH you had some time in Vic Falls after hunting. May I ask you with whom you have planned / organized the Chobe NP tour and the different visits. (with my GF we will have 4 days and 3 nights there)
Thank in advance, I will appreciate your response.
Merci
Philippe
