Hello All,

I am planning a return trip to Africa this year and want to make the step up from my 338 Win Mag to a 375 HH Mag. The kicker is, I'm a lefty ...

I've found some CZ's and one Mod 70, but the price tag on the mod 70 is above my 'rifle only' budget

Does anyone here have any thoughts?

Thanks!

If you go on the Gunbroker website and do a search for "left hand", then filter or sort on 375 H&H, you will see some options:

You should also consider the 375 Ruger and there are lots of them available in left hand.

This is a real bargain at $550

Thanks 375 Ruger Fan! Do you have any experience with the CZ ?

That seems to be the most cost effective 375HH ...

Thx

my two left hand Winchesters, a 300 wm and a 7mm mag. I thought I might rebarrel one of them, but instead bought a cz-550 in 375 H&H mag.

I'm a big fan of the 375 Ruger. Cost wise vs performance, IMO, it is the best all around cartridges available to leftys. Mine is one of the earlier left hand stainless/laminates. I love mine.

I believe Browning make a left-handed A bolt Stalker for around the 840.00 Mark. Pretty nice gun for the price.

I have a LH 375 H&H CZ paid 1600$ new. was very accurate out of box
sent it to AHR and had some things customized a couple years later... still very accurate and handier now

unfortunately CZ charges 400-600 extra for LH and I think they quit making them last year but u still can find

Hello All,

I'm a lefty. I have a CZ in .375 H&H and have bee very happy with it, although I did have to get some work done to it in order to get it right, which is common.

Another reasonably priced left hand option is Montana Rifle. You hear some mixed things about them, but several people I really trust say good things about them. One day I will have one and if I hadn't found the .458 Lott I did used for a very good price I would have bought a Lott from Montana.

Then as others have mentioned you can keep an eye on the gun sale sites and perhaps find an old Model 70 or something.

Good luck!

Thanks much all for the info guys!

While I really really want the Model 70, I think the CZ is more in my budget though and will likely go that route.

Anyone have any good trips to the Dark Continent planned this year?

Sounds like this Africa hunt has been a hurried type decision. Shoot enough to gain some confidence with the 375 and practice shooting off sticks. Load out of the magazine and practice cycling when shooting at the range. The 375 does have recoil that you'll need to get used to.

And, unless required or going after big DG, the 338 WM with a good, tough 250 gr bullet will do everything you need for plains game.

This will actually be my 4th trip down there. I've used a 375HH for some other buffalo hunts (all RH Mod 70s), just have never bit the bullet and bought one of my own

I've kind of had my heart set on a Winchester, but looking like a CZ will fit the bill

I love love love my 338Win ... have shot multiple animals with it ... using the Federal 225gr Trophy Bearclaw loads, but want to have one of the 375s of my own now :)

I believe Browning make a left-handed A bolt Stalker for around the 840.00 Mark. Pretty nice gun for the price.

I picked up one of those. In a synthetic (plastic) stock. I understand recoil is more manageable using a timber stock.

I wrestled with the same issue and ended up grabbing a Ruger Alaskan in .375 Ruger. I love the ergonomics of the scope and the shorter barrel.

Sir, I will gladly take that 16 gauge off your hands. I was waiting for your Winchesters but I'm a sucker for a 16 ga.

I bought a great deal of the brass he had for sale, plus I already had many hundred rounds.

How much brass are you looking for?
