Left Hand Shotgun - I want One

I had a Right hand Berreta A400 and sold it after a season because my buddy wanted it and I knew I was going LH.

I shot a LH Benelli SBE 3 (I believe it was a 3) in 12 Ga on my recent hunt in Canada. Nice, light, fast and recoil wasn’t an issue. I had a couple shells get hung up during the ejection cycle due to me not completely shouldering the Benelli, but that was my fault. Shooting a brushed in stand up blind can be tricky as the shotgun can get snagged or if you rush a shot trying to clear a branch and not completely shouldering the gun.

I’ve shot Berreta and Browning for waterfowl for well over 20 years and prefer a gas actuated shotgun. I still have a Nova in 12 Ga I hunt deer with in LA…

I found myself looking at Benelli LH several times!

That one in the middle is a SBE3.

I haven’t seen one in left.
So far the true left hand semi auto ones available are-

Fabarm XLR
Benelli SBE3 and M2 (some have poi issues)
Beretta A400
Win SX4
Franchi Affinity

anyone have experience with these?
I have the Franchy Affinity 3 for left-handers. Very light, comfortable and accurate; same manufacturer and same parts as the Benelli M2 for half the price! The only difference is that the recoil spring is located under the barrel and not in the stock. The best value for money!

I was the only one shooting it and it was very accurate with whatever choke was In it!
I’ve been extremely disappointed in factory chokes as a whole. They have all been off by several thousandths (some at .004” and up) and even some have been egged…right from the factory, won’t thread into the barrel. All my factory chokes sit in a box somewhere.

The lone exception is my Blaser F3, but they outsource their chokes to Briley. Top notch stuff used by many competitive shooters.

All my other chokes are Carlson’s and Müller. Carlson’s will get you 95% of the Müller results at half the price. Both have been incredibly accurate when it comes to measurements and pattern testing. And they both have exceptional customer service and support.

I didn’t like my SBE3. I traded it in on the A400 and glad I did.
The recoil impulse of the Benelli is unique and not everyone likes it. Trade off for the reliability of the SBE3.

I've also shot the A400 and it's by far the lightest & fastest shooting gas gun I've used.

Benelli is inertia, will have more recoil than a gas operated like Berreta, Remington etc
Right. A couple of years ago my old A5 magnum twelve went haywire on the last clays station. One of the guys loaned me his Benelli auto and I shot clean (including four rabbits). "Hey, Chris wants to sell that gun. You shoot it so well you should buy it." No thanks. No interested in putting up with that recoil!

I’m in the market for a new left handed Semi-Auto 12 Gauge Waterfowl shotgun.

I have an Original 12 Gauge Berreta Xtrema in 3 1/2” Camo 26” right hand, shimmed for a Lefty. It’s showing it’s age and even though I just replaced all the springs, it doesn’t like 3 1/2” shells. And, I still have a bunch of Hevi Shot 3 1/2” for geese…

I like Berreta, but also have Browning, CZ, and Benelli for different uses. I’ve had Winchester and Remington too.

I recently hunted with a new Benelli in LH in Canada and it worked great! But, I have anchors in my shooting shoulder and would prefer a softer shooting Semi-Auto.

With that said; I’m looking to get: Beretta’s A400 Xtreme Plus in 12 Gauge, 3 1/2” with a 28” Barrel. I hunt a lot in blinds by SxS, Quad, or boat… This gun will be for ducks and geese.

Please share your experience with any new Left Hand shotguns if you have one or experiences with any latest model Berreta’s or new model Semi-Auto 12 Gauge shotguns that you like for waterfowl.
@NIGHTHAWK
I recently had the chance to shoot @HankBuck beautiful little 20 gauge left hand CR. Even tho I'm right handed that little gun fit me perfectly and was lively in the hands. It balanced well and swung beautiful and pointed naturally.
I know your after a semi but this gun in a 12 bore would be great.

@Bob Nelson 35Whelen - Bob it’s the “Indian, Not the Arrow” - you shot the 20 ga Caesar well but it’s because “You know how to shoot”. If I ever develop any ‘Shoulder issues’ or other problems that limit my recoil tolerance - the 20 ga is a good option for any wing shooting and including Geese now that they have Hevi Shot, TSS and other better-then-lead-loads. I grew up waterfowl Hunting and had a small Hobby/Guide Business with my Son for a few years. I’ve never used anything except 2 3/4” shells for ducks and used #6s in lead and later #3s in Steel - obviously steel was inferior to lead but we never saw much difference in shooting a limit or losing cripples etc.. My Son shot a 20 ga until he was 16 and he used 3” Steel 3s with great effectiveness on Ducks & Geese.. but he was an above average shooter.
I think for a sore shoulder dropping down to 2 3/4” loads and avoiding “high velocity” shells would be much more beneficial then what type of shotgun you use…or combination of both. After all - it’s ONLY a duck…..Not a Cape Buffalo !

My son has the Beretta semiauto waterfowl gun you mention in left hand. We are a Beretta family and have many of them!
