Last Chance For CITES Brown Bear Hunt!

Yes very successful! After hunting for nearly 40 years this was the quickest! I flew into Cluj - Napoca the night before and we drove up the following morning. We got settled into a very nice hotel with plans to meet the Ranger and complete paperwork that evening and hunt after. As we were pulling off to park for our walk into the hunting area we saw 4 bears . A big female with 3 cubs !

No wonder why there are so many bears. A female producing three offspring a year with no hunting for eight years that’s doubling or even tripling your population !

We got out and had to wait until they moved on . Not more than a few minutes walking up the road the Ranger spotted a bear he had been watching and said it’s a shooter . I got in a kneeling position for a steady rest and took the shot . He was broadside and slightly quartering toward our position. He rolled hit the ground but got back up as backup shots were fired as he went out of sight.

As we moved up he was spotted in the bottom of the creek walking towards us . I aimed at his chest but as I shot he lowered his head thus the hole in his skull!

Beautiful bear , the only issue for me was it was over just as it began! But when you’re given an opportunity to shoot an old boar you take it !

That skull looks pretty well intact for taking a bullet. Was there much more damage than what can be seen in the photo?

Also, Congratulations!

Yes, he is lucky that skull is intact. Most of them after a shot like that are in pieces. Also is a big skull scored 24,449 inches.

Robert,
We are looking forward to pics and story of your trophy brown bear with Marius. May both of you have a blessed Easter. Have a safe trip back to Montana. The churches are very beautiful in Romania.

Happy Dyngas day to all the European hunters

I’ve just returned from my trip and all I can say is wow. Tremendous trip in all aspects. The country is beautiful, the bears are plentiful and Marius is a true professional. I wish more American outfitters were of the same ilk. If you’re on the fence regarding this trip, I suggest you get off of it and head straight to Romania. I’m happy to answer any and all questions, dm me and I’ll get back to you as soon as I’m able. Thanks again to @CADDIE5 for all of your time and guidance, it was truly appreciated.

So this will 100% be closed in 2026 or still TBD?

2025 hunting season for brown bear ends late December. The bears started to become more active when the snow started. In some areas middle of November in other areas December. During the summer June, July, August and early September we don’t hunt them. We start in October. We still have available 4 tags for this season, recommended month November! Don’t miss the opportunity to get a exportable brown bear in a country with the highest brown bear population in Europe.
