Well I'm pumped I booked a 6 day hunt for a Nyala, bush buck, common reed buck and a red buck in January ,the outfitter from SA was at the Harrisburg Pa Sportsman Show early Feb. and he offered me a hard boss bull cape buffalo hunt and i accepted it, I have been to Africa three times all ready for plains game and cant wait for my first dangerous game hunt for a cape buffalo bull. :)

Congradulations!!! I hope you have a great trip....tell us about it when you get back to the U.S.

I took a 41" Cape buffalo in MKuze Falls PGR, near Pongola, KwaZulu-Natal.

The Nyalas are huge in this area.

You will surely have a great time

PAHunter, hope you have a great time and harvest some great animals.
I also booked a hunt near Pongola for a buffalo and some plains game. But, I need to wait until 2012, seems like an eternity. I'm taking my wife and son with me that is going to be special.
Please post a report of your hunt along with some photos when you return.
Randy

Can't wait to read your story and see the pics when you get back.

When going to KZN, don't forget to bring a red duiker home with you! I didn't on my trip and kick myself every time I think about it. I saw them almost every day and once I decided to take one, we never saw another trophy male. I learned my mistake and will need to make another trip to KZN specifically for the red duiker.

Good luck on your hunt!

What weaponry will you be using ?

I agree with graybird, I know they have suni and red duiker in the area....if I had the money I'd take them.

270 for plains game and 375 H&H for the buffalo, the Outfitter did ask me about the red duiker but i told him i like big game :-)

Don't underestimate the little guys! They can certainly be the most talked about animals in your trophy room.

Thanks for everyone's advice! Two smaller animals that do catch my interest and they offer on the hunt is an Orbi and a Vaal Rhebock and I might also take a Bush pig, has anyone hunted these three animals and can anyone comment on them? Thanks!

If you chose to hunt a Vaal Rhebok, you will need to travel to the Eastern Cape, which is the only place they're located. The oribi can be hunted in the northern portion of the Eastern Cape as well as KZN. You can also hunt the bushpig in both locations, but bushpig are best hunted using bait and or dogs. The chances of taking a bushpig outside of these two methods would cerntainly be pure luck. They are noturnal animals and unless you come across one early morning or late evening, you probably won't see one.

Well guys big change in the last two weeks i had to cancel my buffalo hunt as well as the plain game with the planned outfitterit seems people don't get there capes back with him. My booking agent arranged another hunt for me with eagle safari he has been telling me of some outstanding game on the ranches he hunts. I'm on the plane right now ready to take off. Let you know how it goes when i get back in 10 days.

It's too bad about the other outfitter but good that you found out about the problems before the hunt. I'm glad you were able to rebook with another outfitter and on your way to SA. Are you still hunting buffalo?
I'm looking forward to your report and photos.
Who was the original outfitter and were you able to get your deposit back from them?

Sorry to hear about the last minute changes! Good luck on your hunt, let us know how it turns out.

Sounds like a great booking agent assuming your deposit was transfered straight across to the new hunt. Did he also tip you off to the cape snatching?

Good luck to you.

Glad this worked out. Can't wait to hear the tales.
Safe trip, straight shooting!
