I would definitely agree with the first part of your idea. Over the last year or so, maybe longer, I can't count the number of "new" members posting numerous items for sale after they've been on AH for a day/week or two. I think many are selling here to avoid Gunjoker's fees and/or some are just flat out seller scams? But, if you take away comments from potential buyers here and relegate to the "PM" system only, you'll take away some of our "entertainment" here on AH? Examples: "Great rifle at a fair price. I would buy it if I didn't have to pay for the colonoscopy I had last week", or, "Nice deal, but I just bought six of the same rifles over the last couple of months, so.....?" Entertainment! LOLI think this site would be well-served if the moderator would require that a minimum number of non-selling posts would be required (at least 25-50) before placing a classified ad would be allowed. This requirement is very common among the many special interest sites with which I am registered. My next issue, which I have previously raised, is that when someone lists an item for sale, it should be left at that. If one is interested in the item, then pm the listing member. For example, if someone list a rifle for sale, it is not the place to comment on the caliber or "great rifle, wish I could afford it." This is also a restriction on most special interest sites that allow the listing of items for sale.
