KAZAKHSTAN: Arcqos Safaris Maral Stag & Mid-Asian Ibex

What a top notch adventure. I had a serious lung infection in 2007, and never had any problems with altitude prior to that, but since then it's a big problem for me. Glad to see you pushed on and were able to score some fantastic trophies.

This reminds me so much of my great Kyrgyzstan ibex hunt! So many similarities. Congrats. Definitely get a scope with a locking dial. Many of us have had similar problems.

Congratulations on your ibex and achievement
any tips on overcoming the challenges you faced during the trip ?
Try to get some high altitude hiking and general time in. I went to Kyrgygstan the next month for a very similar hunt at even higher altitude and did just fine with the horses and the altitude. I don't think there's any way to prepare for the mountain ponies other than just tough it out for a couple days. Other tips - I would say absolutely have a translator or you will be completely left in the dark. After our experience with the rifle transport, I've started borrowing the guide's rifle, but that comes with it's own challenges. Nevertheless, I've made some great shots at 550 and 650 yards with my guide's rifle. Absolutely go with a very well organized and reputable outfit with all the required local contacts. This may cost more, but over time, will be worth it. Eventually your luck runs out trying to navigate this foreign hunting locations and you'll need a lifeline.

At Kalahari Safari, the Small Things Are the Big Things
The thrill of the stalk. The stillness of the wait. The age-old rhythm of the hunt.
It’s not just about the size of the trophy. It’s about the stories that will be told for years.
We believe the memories are the true prize. The small things are the big things.
And we’re proud to offer a hunting experience that honours exactly that.

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
Two African Safaris Hunted South Africa both times,
9 game animals taken
