Greetings Tarata,

Khomas Highland Hunting and Fishing Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

The CZ 550 Standard or Magnum either one, are excellent rifles.
There is no doubt that you will be happy with yours.
I have formerly owned several of them in various calibers.
Evidently I was lucky, because all of them worked perfectly, except the .500 Jeffery.
But, after a professional Gunsmith hand filed the rails and milled off a slight bit of metal from the follower, voila it then fed like a prize hog.

And the Speer 235 grain semi-spitzer is a very underrated projectile, a bit tougher than one might think just looking at it before trying it.
I have shot several both, black tail deer and caribou with that one and it always exited with a golf ball size hole.

Looks like you have your Safari company picked out and I predict you will have a wonderful time in Africa.

Please take many pictures for the rest of us here in the forum to enjoy.

Cheers,
Velo Dog.

Hi, I am hoping do do a few safaris over the next few years. The 375 has been chosen as a sentimental favourite to start with but I hope to hunt buffalo and possibly other large dangerous game. Maybe not on the first African trip.

Hi Ridge Runner,

I am lucky to live in a part of NZ where we have a surplus of red and fallow deer. I live in a rural area which has two public land mountain areas within 30min drive. These have low - medium red deer numbers that can be hunted in forested river valleys. slopes and open tops (+3000ft). We are also surrounded by partially forested hill country that holds deer in quite large numbers. I can hunt on my property or on friends properties all year. I will usually hunt once a week or so. As deerstalking has become something of an exercise in population control in the hill country we can shoot many deer over a year. I think last year I shot approximately 75. For me this is done on foot. Meat is recovered as much as possible with hindquarters and back steaks recovered. Much is made into sausages, mince, steaks and casserole meat. I am lucky to have four hungry boys and a wife who love venison. Surplus meat is given away to friends and used at community events. This keeps me fit, provides assessable hunting and hones my rifle and stalking skills.

Three or four times a year I will hunt further afield in NZ with friends. We will ususally backpack in or gain access by helicopter if it is deep into the mountains. For these trips we will be targeting trophy red deer, thar of chamois. All of this hunting is on public land and some access is controlled by ballot. I have attached a few photos
