Kevin "Doctari" Robertson would likely beg to disagreeTo me....the real stuff is 450gr at 2200-2300. Low pressure and no powder compression to speak of. It doesn't appear that 500gr is needed anymore with today's bullet technology. (Sounds like a good enough excuse to me anyway....) lol!
Oh what does he know??? LOL! Just kidding of course.Kevin "Doctari" Robertson would beg to disagree

The Perfect Shot II. Kevin "Doctari" Robertson. p. 28 & 29.
Most definitely! For Buffalo I will go with Barnes 450gr TSX or 420 CEB Raptors.Yep, but aside from Elephant, pretty much everything else (including Buff) is shot with softs nowadays (precisely because these modern solids will punch through about anything)![]()
Beautiful rifleJust picked up this Kimber 458 Lott today. Beautiful wood on this one! Unfired, with only a few safe marks on the stock. Weight is dead on 8lbs 8oz with no scope installed. Shallow V rear three leaf sights and white adjustable front sight, come to point perfectly. Red Decelerator recoil pad of proper proportions. Drilled and tapped for 8-40 scope mount screws.
I loaded up a few rounds of Cutting Edge 450gr solids this evening to check for feed and function, which are perfect. Can't wait to shoot it tomorrow!

But if a solid bullet will penetrate through the vitals from any sane angle, and exit, as far as I can see, a 45 caliber hole, is a 45 caliber hole.
It feeds perfectly with flat nosed solids, so it should feed anything else as well or better.Make sure it feeds with hunting rounds. Had to send mine back and they couldn’t fix it?? Weird. I got my money back. Sounds like yours is good.
