Very handsome rifle, in an intriguing caliber. That Buff engraving, really highlights the detail of the rifle.
Ha! Let us southpaws enjoys some of the good lifeVery nice rifle if it wasn’t for the cheekpiece being on the wrong side ;-) Enjoy!
What a gorgeous rifle - you should be proud. Congrats on the caliber, a worthy round along with its cousin the 404 Jeffery, and it will serve you well for anything that walks runs or crawls on the planet. NoiceWell, it’s finally here...
A big shout out to Chris Sells at Heym USA for making it happen. It’s been a bit of a roller coaster during the Covid era.
I visited Chris back in August. After firing the 88 and 89B we decided on this lite model 89B in 450/400 NE.
Dressed it up a little from the factory settings. I’m a southpaw so it’s lefty.
My options...
Left handed stock.
Left handed trigger group and firing order.
Upgraded lumber.
Silver nitrate triggers, trigger guard and butt cap.
English style oil finish on the stock.
Bullino engraved Cape Buffalo underneath.
Hope to get it to the range to check the regulation this weekend. With a bit of luck I’ll have it pointing at Buffs later this month.

Here’s the original blank. Chris was pretty high on it from the get go as a left hand stock. This certainly isn’t considered “exhibition grade”. Very good, yes...I keep going back to the pictures you have posted Wiltznucks and I have to say that is the best looking double I have ever seen. The wood is gorgeous, not over the top figure, tons of honey and definition, just plain simple class. The engraving is great, just enough, no more. I can't believe I have one of these on the way, but I think I am going to have to upgrade my wood to this level - what grade is it?
That blank is so fine. I’d get my money’s worth just setting it on my lap and staring at it. You have a gorgeous firearm. Thank you for posting. Here’s the original blank. We could see the bands of fiddleback even when it was in the raw. That’s what really drew me to it.
If being honest; I think opting for the hand rubbed English style oil finish really made this blank pop. Adds a more glossy finish which many don’t like; but, I love the way it turned out.

The Cape engraving is stunning. I think this photo would be my phone background pic. One thing I have noticed (and it really jumps out) is the number of left handed rifle owners I’ve seen in photos. Makes me feel normalWell, it’s finally here...

The finished stock turned out even better, much stronger contrast between the dark lines and the honey fields. Someone said here on AH that wood always has more to give under the varnish, this sort of finish reinforces that. Here’s the original blank. What is the price MB?There is a Heym for sale at Ralf Martini's here in Canada with a Buffalo engraving I just love. Price was a little too high for me, but wow what beautiful work and a beauty of a rifle. In 470.
Heym uses some amazing artists for their engraving.
