Islamic State insurgency Mozambique

Well done IvW . My guy was a soft target they boppad him in Baard ave where that new burger joint is. You are also in Centurion right?
Yes

I heard through the grapevine vine a few weeks ago that executive outcomes is being brought back by the request of some African governments. That’s all I heard but I am pretty sure that Mozambique is one of this nations. Also my brother was telling me that the Russians have already sent some PMCs to the region.

The Russians have been there for a while and got their arses handed to them on a plate ...suffered quite a few casualties I believe over the time they been there...especially early on...

This Sh..t is getting real! I had a Landcruiser hijacked a week ago by four AK wielding banitotos in Pretoria! Luckily my driver was not injured but he was badly shook up. These guys were highly trained and the intel we have is that cruiser was headed for northern Moz along with a bunch of other 4x4’s recently jacked in Gauteng. This is going to be a long ride and unfortunately the only guys in Africa who could sort this out are all on pension or dead! Guys like the late A Walker double recipient of the Crux Honouris. Our SANDF will get their ass handed to them I fear..

nor- do I praise states of southern Africa(NBZZ)-no Muslims, more stable weather

Our Host and PH drove us from Gobabis to Windhoek Airport with his Pickup Toyota Hilux.
I remember especially one sentence" I'll give you one day with this car in South Africa and you 'll be highjacked".

Not really understanding what you are trying to say...in first part...

To put it bluntly every single one needs annihilating, and I mean everyone regardless....then the government can address the issues...but with any of them still active they wont stop....but no government in this day and age that can assist would allow that due to to political correctness and pressure from do gooding NGOs etc etc.....but when you are fighting an enemy that doesn't abide by any convention let alone anything that might be considered normal behaviour in a war situation, then they forfeit any feelings of compassion or rights.....and you can come back and say what you want...but the ones of us who have seen the videos and photos of what they have done to defenseless villagers etc wont change our minds...simple

Yip I also survived a attempted hi jacking last wednesday....reaction time and my military training and being armed saved the day and being armed.....my guardian angel was with me.....could have gone either way....fu...them will deal with the charges as we go...
That is crazy, glad you are safe. Stay safe.

The root cause is Islamist expansion throughout all parts of Africa. Islamist doctrine is that anyone not a "believer" is not fully human. Infidels can be dealt with in any manner an Islamist desires: murder, rape, torture, enslavement - anything goes. Look what ISIS did in Iraq and Syria. This is what is rearing its ugly head in Mozambique. It is an utter disaster for the people, the society and of course the wildlife which are seen as a means of feeding the islamist armies. All conservation programs and efforts are shut down obviously as the wildlife department workers try to save themselves. The only solution is for international forces to go in and destroy the islamists which, of course, is politically impossible these days. The future for hunting in Mozambique and for the country itself looks dismal at best. Worst case scenario is another ISIS-type enclave with a perpetual islamist hell until some outside force takes the Islamists out. Moderate followers of Islam are powerless to stop the madness. It is truly a disaster.
Mozambique's Islamist insurgency has been going on for several years now. The reason it's being reported about more now is that a French gas company was forced to leave due to safety concerns. I know people will get angry about me saying this but us white people only getting concerned about it now is proof of how pampered we've become. The old SADF soldiers would see this as another walk in the park as they were used to terrorist activities in old South-West Africa and Angola.

A failure for conservation? Sure, but again, it's been like that for several years now. Why are we only talking about it now?

Well.then we could discuss every day about East,West and also Central Africa suffering from fundamentalists. There are nicer topics,we will not change anything anyway.

@Spike T.

Namibia,Botswana,Zambia,Zimbabwe those are my favorite countries in Africa and those are not yet suffering from IS attacks. And small, unexpected rainy seasons like in Tanzania are not there either
I do not mind the Muslim, but I expect him to respect me with my religion and my existence as I respect him.
But many of them have a hard time with that.

I completely agree with you, @Foxi. I'm just pointing out that's it a bit strange to only start talking about it now when we could've much earlier. 'Tis all and other than that, I completely agree with what everyone else has said.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Burkina Faso is a former French colony. The French haven't stepped in there yet I don't believe.

Yes, formerly known as Upper Volta.

There are several permanent UN and EU Missions in both Mali and Niger who cooperate with Burkina Faso´s Army and Police.

Spain´s Guardia Civil has a training mission with the Gendarmerie of Burkina Faso

The reason I'm concerned about it has nothing to do with the French LNG project being abandoned. It's because I only learned about it because it was posted here, and I want to hunt Moz again someday. Major news media here only report agenda driven items, Woke BS. There are 43 major conflicts in the World now, and hundreds of minor ones. But we are more concerned with gender neutral pronouns, maternity flite suits, and Megan's baby skin. Many Americans know absolutely nothing...., and I mean nothing, about what is going on in the World. And we won't learn much from MNM....if a news item doesn't fit the agenda, it will be promptly removed from social media or YT. It takes a real effort to stay informed. I appreciate this source. Can't plan a hunt if you don't know the world................FWB

Here you are Phil

Like the US, France has either deployed military forces or established bases in a number of African countries. The country has more than 7,500 military personnel currently serving on the continent. Its largest presence is in the Sahel, especially in the border zone linking Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger.

And superb troops they are.

Amen, Spike T. That is the only thing they understand and the only way to handle the problem. Show absolutely no quarter.

I’m flying into Pemba and on to the Reserve in October.

I’m optimistic regarding continued operation in Northern Moz., but I’ll be sure to hunt hard and take all the opportunities we are gifted.

That’s a magical landscape; a pity if it goes the way of Burkina, C.A.R., and others.

I am quite concerned at the situation and suspect that it represents a level of operation much higher than previously experienced. I think we are all hindered by a paucity of accurate information, both in respect to previous incidents and the current situation.

If asked a couple of months ago I would have thought of the situation as a few scattered primarily bandit gangs trying to put on a veneer of Islamic affiliation to increase their reputation. Basically thugs capable of hacking up unarmed villagers and kidnapping schoolgirls, but that's about all.

However a couple of observations about the current situation:
i. A planned multi-prong attack on a sizable township of several tens of thousands of people.
ii. Possessing intelligence as to where foreign workers were staying and the ability to establish an ambush of sufficient size to take out a multi vehicle convoy.
iii. At the same time having sufficient forces to overcome and capture the town.
iv. Having organic mortar resources to harass seaborne rescue attempts.
v. Having heavy machine gun support for limited anti-air / anti-vehicle role.
vi. Possibility of having organic light armoured vehicles. (Unsure if media pictures of vehicles actually from scene or just file footage).

All off this suggests suggests competent command and control together with at least battalion level forces and more likely greater. Certainly quantum level up scale from previous incidents.

I am afraid things will have to change for the better rather dramatically for that flight to Pemba to happen.

Great, who would pay for that ?

The US, for example, has sunk trillions of dollars into Iraq and Afghanistan, depolyed tens, if not hundreds of thousands, of soldiers and it doesn't have a whole lot to show for it... It has also been involved there for close to 2 decades. How much $$$, lives, and decades would it take to clean up Africa ?

Africa is a ticking time bomb. You have a continent that has an exponentially growing population. This populace is largely uneducated, frequently holds bizarre and radical beliefs, and is facing significant levels of poverty. And pretty widespread political instability. You also have a large cohort of unemployed, bored and impoverished young men who have very little to lose. This is the perfect recipe for these insurgent groups. All they need is numbers- which they have plenty of. Mow ten of them down and 20 will pop back up to take their place- they're like a hydra. Short of committing large scale annihilation or genocide I fail to see how this can be stopped by outside actors.

You saw this happen on a miniature scale in Iraq when some "geniuses" decided to disband Saddam's army and leave about a million arab men unemployed. Unsurprisingly it led to a massive insurgency. And despite the amount of troops and money America poured in it wasn't exactly able to destroy it. Iraq today is hardly an example of a stable state. I'd argue that Iraq today is worse off than it was under Saddam.

Reza Call me any time you want to talk about Elephant. hunting and CMS.
I've hunted two Elephant with CMS.
In 13 African safari's and an equal number of North American hunts, BUZZ is the best guide I have ever hunted with.
