Is there a quad-stick in your future?

I’m good with a pair of sticks or a tripod on DG because of the distance I’m shooting. I’ve shot a lot of plains game off of them as well. For plains game, using quad sticks, the extended accurate range and the confidence that goes with it far exceeds the bother of an extra couple of seconds for set up.

I’m running BOG pod adrenaline, and so far so good. I wouldn’t rule quad sticks out, but I haven’t had need for them yet.

I like the 3-legged on from @African Sporting Creations, very light but steady and the trackers have no issues carrying them. Breaks down to fit in a luggage case. It does come with its own sleeve.

Used it on multiple buffalo and elephants.

Shooting distance is short where I am from so no real need for me. A really long shot is 200yds.

I have a few variations from tripods, an inxpensive bipod, and a couple sets of Rudolph's (have gifted two sets of 4Stablestiks to PH's). Not a big fan of the Primos Triggersticks, I feel that they are flimsier the taller you use them. Rudolph quads are great in grassy, sandy areas. not a ton of brush to work around.

I like my 4 stable sticks a lot—used them on a moose hunt this fall and my guide wound up ordering himself a set. I was just using them at the range this afternoon with my 9.3 getting ready for a deer hunt.

I've been touring the UK & Europe for the past month with a little hunting thrown in. Whilst over here I purchased a set of PH JAGT quad-sticks after a lot of online research. They're currently in my suitcase ready to fly from Paris back to Australia tonight!

The best quad sticks I own are The new Blaser II with a swivel handle. So easy to swing with a walking animal

I tried the Blaser II sticks at Safari & Outdoor in Pretoria. What had me hung up is exactly what you mention, the swivel handle. If your support hand is doing the swiveling, what's holding the rifle? Just one hand? Maybe you can get away with this shooting a 270WIN or 30-06, but I don't believe it's a recipe for success using a DG rifle. I much prefer having both hands on the rifle and waiting until the animal (hopefully) stops.

I have two generations of BOG sticks, the RLD-3 and the Adrenaline. Both have served me well and still get used in certain situations. The Adrenaline is by far the better of the two, but neither of them are as good for accuracy as the quads.

I have happily replace sighting in on the bench with quad sticks for DG cartridges and wish I had done it sooner. Much less punishing while maintaining rock steady accuracy.

I like the quad sticks. They're collapsible, easy to carry, quick to set up, and sturdy. I don't use them all the time, but always carry them.

I used the ASC tripod sticks on hunt one with great success. On my second, the outfitter said he uses Primos Trigger Sticks and I already has a set, so practiced and went with those. Between the two, I definitely prefer the ASC sticks.
I am watching this thread with great interest. I have some hand tremors and although I can use the tripod decently to 200yds, I’m probably going to try a quad stick of some type.

All my rifle hunting involves my Viper flex quad sticks. So much better than two or three legged supports after a modicum of acclimatisation. I would never go back to a bipod or tripod.

Yes, I’ve used the Viper’s and the Blaser sticks but I prefer the quad’s from PH-jagt from Denmark.
Last October I was able to shoot a black wildebeest at 300 yards from those sticks.
Love them.

I got Gunstix a couple years ago and they have been a game changer for me. Used them on a N.M. oryx hunt last year where standing shots are the norm, rather than the exception. Used them to sight one 400 yds. away and it was completely steady. Shot one facing me at 278 yds. I will add that I got the front leg for them, so essentially it's like a tripod.

Quad sticks have really changed my shooting, but I think the front leg/5th stick is too much for hunting use. It makes the sticks as solid as a bench rest but you lose all mobility. Great for sighting in and certain shots, but not as flexible to hunting situations as standard quad sticks or a tripod.

I've been wrestling this same question. Backcountry carbon tripod I have doesn't seem stable enough for Africa. Heavy duty carbon tripod is what I'm leaning towards, but the support of a quad at the back of the gun seems like it would be good.

No shooting sticks in my future. I hunt solo and primarily a stalker. Not dragging shooting sticks with me and I seldom have time to set them up anyway. In Africa I will use whatever is provided. But I prefer shooting from sitting position if the opportunity presents itself.
