Is anyone using a red dot sight on their CZ 550 ?

This cover was on my sight during my hunt. And I’m confident it drastically reduced the amount of dust. The dust is so fine it still gets on everything. And I had a lot of stalks so would remove it when inside of 100 yards or so. So it eventually needs cleaning.

My PH in the Kalahari had a CZ-550 416 Rigby and wanted to mount one. I sent him the mount with @BourbonTrail, and last I heard he finally installed one on his rifle. The PH used his rifle for backup hunters during lion hunts.

If there´s a good mount available where you´re at you might want to look into an Aimpoint Acro. It has a closed emitter so it´s not as sensitive to dust etc as some other suggestions and it´s designed to be mounted on pistol slides (which are subject to very high acceleration) so the recoil of a 505 should not be a problem at all. I might be a little biased because it´s one of very few internationally known gun related Swedish companies but I don´t think anyone can honestly call Aimpoints bad.
Missed this post earlier. The Aimpoints were developed for the 20mm antiaircraft canons so they can take a fair bit of recoil. There are those who put a 2 or 3 power magnifier attachment on them, I don't know why as you then have a standard scope and parallax, eye position comes into play.

I recently purchased the Trijicon RCR for my CZ 550 404J. The mounting screws were not included. So, I called Trijicon who were great and sent me multiple sets of 6-40 and 6-32. I confirmed with AHR 6-32 is the correct screw. The long screws are too long and bottom out without tightening the RCR to the mount.

My concern is the short screws only put about 4-5 threads into the AHR QD mount. Now, Trijicon included some Loctite 243 medium to use. I haven't called Trijicon to see if they have a medium length screw.

What are your thoughts on the screw length and using the Loctite? Also, the RCR is rather interesting in mounting due to the fact that the screws have slots in the sides of their heads and one uses an Allen wrench to tighten them from the side.

I believe a machinist would tell you one needs the screw diameter at a minimum for the length of the "purchase" of the threads. Your photo looks like 4 to 5 threads would be longer than the screw is wide.

If it were me, I'd measure the depth of the hole in the AHR mount and shorten the screw to slightly shorter than the hole depth. That will require a fine three sided file to clean up the threads.
I measured the depth of the screw hole in a AHR CZ mount as 3/8" deep.

Use blue Loctite (removable) on the threads.

Thank you. I’ll look into the file to shorten the longer screws and use the Loctite

Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
