I just got hold of a Weatherby Mark V in .460 for free...
Now, the rifle has iron sights on it with the first leaf being fixed followed by two that fold up.
It is a japanese build and my question is:

Does anyone know what the ranges for the sights typically are?
100, 200, 300 yds? Or 50, 100, 200yds?

Thanks,
Nic

My guess would be 100, 200, 300 with Weatherby; however, other DG cartridges would likely start at 50. Best way to tell is to shoot it with factory ammo. A ballistics calculator can give you an idea of the trajectory to compare.

Current US models use an NECG ramp sight.

If you didn't get a owners manual with it I would contact Weatherby and get a manual, I'm sure that it will be listed in it. If not I would ask one of the technicians at Weatherby about it.

Free is good. I'd take one of them for free any day. With the cost of ammunition, the gun really isn't free, but I doubt you'll shoot it enough to dent the balance.

Free 460 - heck of a deal there!! I would guess 50 yard increments. Hope it has a removable brake
