Interesting conversation at the airport

for a pathogen with a low mortality rate on a vaccine which is novel...I would say there is more risk in the vaccines.

The numbers the press/politicians should be talking about are things like mortality rate of people with no comorbidities vs those with comorbidities like morbid obesity, diabetes, and COPD.

Maybe I'm just not watching the right channels, but as far as I can tell, they are totally silent on these two points, and that speaks quite loudly regarding mendacity and/or incompetence of press/politicians.

I've seen a few doctors making SWAGS (on the info that has been released WRT covid) that perhaps as many as 40-50K people have died from the vaccines. At least with Salk's first attempt at a polio vaccine, he didn't kill 40-50K people, he only infected 40-50K people with polio.

That is purely speculative, of course, but the speculation is on account of we know they are lying, and they know we know they are lying, and they know we know they know. And they continue to prevaricate.

Consider the mortality rate of 2 known pathogens
1. tetanus mortality rate is 50% (if unvaccinated)
2. small pox is about 30-35%

Those kinds of numbers justify risk.
The latest stats I have seen were from mid-July. At that point there had been 339M doses administered and 6,207 reported deaths of people who had been vaccinated. That's a rate of 0.0018% of doses. There's no data that any of these people died BECAUSE they received the vaccine. Just like the valid claim that not everyone who died with COVID died FROM COVID. Anyway, even if all of the vaccinated people died BECAUSE they got a shot, 0.0016% is a reasonable risk.

My son is a Paramedic and has been busy for over a year hauling COVID cases to area hospitals that are overloaded. He has seen dozens of people die from it...most with obvious comorbitities...but some without. Young people too. This is a real virus. Not a hoax.

You can argue that the vaccine should have been more thoroughly tested before being approved for emergency use. By this point, however, the vaccination of half the adults in America constitutes the largest beta test of a drug in history. The resulting mortality rate is lower than some other commonly prescribed drugs. Just listen to any advertisement for the latest prescription drug. Yikes!

The other thing I find puzzling is that International Hunters, like ourselves, are not known to be nervous nellys. We take calculated risks: flying to Africa, hunting dangerous game, running the risk of catching a bad case of other nasties like malaria or bilharzia. Being caught up in whatever protest or government collapse that's happening. What is it about this vaccine that causes such concern?

I think 80% of the anti-vaxers won't take it because Biden recommends.
The other half because of you-know, Trump's operation Warp Speed.
(Apologies to Yogi.)

A hunting article quickly turned into a vax debate  o_O

the people pushing that we take it. I wouldn't follow any of them to the convenience store, sure as hell not going to take their advice, or even orders, on this vaccine. This is my line in the sand, the very last straw.

like i said...the lies are gargantuan, and the government and its lapdog media seem to revel in it.

The numbers have been so wildly misreported, it will likely never be the case that we ever know the extent, other than it is less than what we are told.

One must ask the question "Why are they so obviously lying about so much, and WTF should I trust them on this, a thing that could potentially be worse for me than the pathogen itself?".

If one spends time looking for YT videos and medical journals not named JAMA, one discovers that there are probably thousands of doctors who advise that this vaccine is likely a bad mistake. But if all you follow is the MSM, you'll only hear the other side, Fox included.

Do what you feel you need to WRT the vaccine, I won't judge. I simply cannot bring myself to trust liars who hold great power over me.

I had tick bite fever in Africa. That sucked and only blew one hunting day before treatment and recovery.
Being stuck in a foreign country while seriously ill and not being able to do what you showed up for...... Bloody hell.

You figure this might be a promo for @Global Rescue ???

Red herring argument.

Yes it’s not the end of the world but also not a hoax.

The hospital system that my daughter works for as a nurse in Colorado just suspended tier ll and tier lll surgeries again as COVID cases among mostly unvaccinated people are rising quickly and clogging up the system. People should get vaccinated to help slow this train down. The hospitals are reallocating resources and staff to respond to the influx of new cases. Some hoax!?! My daughter has cared for lots of COVID cases and she got the Moderna shots. So far she hasn’t been infected.

There definitely are some breakthrough cases in vaccinated people as well but not nearly as many. My pregnant daughter-in-law is one of them. She became ill last Friday and had to cancel her baby shower the day before the event. My wife flew from CO to NY for it and it didn’t even happen. She is an engineering manager for IBM and did the research on being vaccinated while pregnant and got the Pfizer shots. We got the Moderna. I’ve heard rumors that Moderna is having fewer breakthrough cases than the others but I can’t verify that info.

We live an active lifestyle and travel a lot. I guide lots of people each fall from all over the country. I will get the booster if offered and if known to help. I am not scared of the vaccines. I don’t know why so many are scared. I’ve been shot at, charged by DG and had many other close, dangerous calls. This shot isn’t one of them, fellas, but do what you want to prolong the mess.

Some food for thought my daughter just sent me. You do the math. If you don’t believe it, I cannot help you.

I wonder if Global Rescue, Ripcord, etc., would evacuate you with an active case of Covid?

My wife and I just came back from a land tour of Alaska. While we were there a fellow tourist came down with something. He look all sweaty and told me his back was killing him. When we boarded the plane in Anchorage he was coughing. He coughed and hacked all the way to Minneapolis while the stewards were running around making sure your mask was up. Well when we boarded again on the flight from Minneapolis to Kansas City there was a few seats open and they gave him a row to himself. His wife wouldn't set with him which I felt was being a bitch. My wife who is a nurse told me thus will be a good test for our Moderna vaccine. We'll we road our tour bus all the way to Junction City Kansas with him hacking and sneezing. He actually piled his kleenex up on the seat next to him. Will we finally got home dead tired from jet lag but keyed up so had a few homebrews and went to bed. The next afternoon we got a call from the tour company surprise surprise the guy had covid. We both were feeling kind of bad but passed it off on jetlag. My wife called her daughter who is a PA to tell her the story. She thought we should get tested as we both had like a mild cold. Well we went to an urgent care center in town on Sunday and got tested. Naturally it all happens on a weekend. We'll the tests come back that I have covid but she didn't. They said that she may have tested to soon and to assume she had it to. Well now her daughter starts bugging us to call our doctor Monday and see if we can get regeneron monoclonal antibody infusion. We were now coughing and sneezing but nothing like our tour buddy. We didn't have a fever either. Her daughter doesn't think much of the vaccines but the monoclonal antibody infusion had impressed her. We got the infusion Tuesday and we have no symptoms of covid at all but still in quarantine. After this I can see why someone goes nuts on an airplane. One good thing my wife said you know a hunting of fishing would have been safer. The tour just stuck you in a barrel 30 other people for seven days.

Good luck and sorry to hear this. Let us know if something changes. Take care.

Thanks, Hopefully it will be like getting a booster shot, which you can't get for 90 days after the infusion. We haven't gotten a call from the health dept. They urgent care gave use some vague information about having to quarantine for 10 days and three days without a fever. She said she thinks most people just throw it away and go about there business if not to sick. I believe her. I'll do the quarantine as that's the right thing to do. It kind of makes me mad that they pack you into a plane get crappie with you if your mask isn't all the way up but it alright to be sick.

One shot deal--didn't work. Two shot deal--maybe temporarily good. Three shot deal---who the hell knows. They don't have a very good track record with any of it. But as long as the money keeps rolling in they don't give a damn.

Here in NV da gov just reinstated mandatory masks. Come to find out his Chinese wife's family has a factory in China that manufactures masks. Hmmm.
So young and beautiful, yet so cynical. A shame. :(

It's funny US domestic airlines let infected people fly. I was in Durbin RSA a few years ago and watched the airlines kick off a sick guy from India and he look nowhere as sick has my fellow tourist. I can understand him wanting to get home but doing so my cause him to be alot sicker. My stepdaughter said a lot of people that die of the virus were poor people who waited to long to get their grandparents to the hospital and they were too far gone. She said now they have no money for rent because grandparents died.

The cost for staying at a lodge when you are not hunting should be way less than the normal day rate. With no PH or tracker/drivers to cover, I can't imagine an outfitter not being able get him a place to stay at a very reasonable rate.

The outfitters I know would never gouge you in that situation.

Probably not, but they could at least assist with connecting to resources.
