In search of a proper belt

Good belts can be had from any of the better shoe companies. My dress belts are from Allen Edmonds as are most of my dress/work shoes. All are over 30 years old. My casual belt is from Dooney and Burke. They also make briefcases and purses. It is 40 years old and looks new. I wear it almost every day.

Thank you, gentlemen! Already have a horween shell cordovan belt by Alden, and an Italian leather belt by Brooks Bros. headed my way--and am actively investigating all your other great recommendations.
Haven't even gotten started on upgrading casual belts...

Let me know how you like the Alden belt.

Having lost my ass in a couple divorces, I have to wear a belt everyday, even when I wear sweatpants! I’ve got a bunch of custom maker belts and love them. But I have started wearing NexBelts, they look great and hold a gun when you need to throw a Blackhawk on your belt. They ratchet and adjust easy. Cool product but I would much rather have my ass back!

Interesting that a lot of belts that are being recommended are not what I'd call dress belts. I'd recommend Anson Belt & Buckle as an option where one can design one's own belts.

I think I went wrong and actually got a Booney and Dork.

Lots of good options out there for dress belts that vary greatly depending on taste and budget..

For a gun belt or a belt for hard use, Kramer is as good as it gets for holsters and belts…

I’ve got Kramer products that I’ve owned for 20 years at this point that are just as serviceable today as the day I bought them.. look great as well… they have literally been worn and used everywhere from the streets of DC to the rainforests of Brazil, and every possible place in between… and are still going strong…

Clint Orms Silver Smith makes a pretty nice dress combo.
He also has just belts if you have your own buckle. Patrick Mavros took me to his booth at DSC so I could order a black belt to go with Patrick's buckles. Six weeks later it arrived and it is very nice.

I really do like my Kramer products and wear my Kramer belt daily, but I do wish I could find a dressier buckle. To me it is a little on the casual side for true dress occasions.

Big R, tack section. Even the big and tall can find a latigo that will reach. Leather punch and an awl will get you a custom fitted belt in a matter of minutes. Hint; get 2, 1 for dress, 1 for casual...

ML Leddys in Fort Worth Texas is a great place to get a belt and boots also, I have 2 elephant belts and several pairs of boots, I also second Clint Orms for buckles I have a Cape buffalo buckle set as well as their big 5 one.

I found a great quality belt at a local lumber supply that also sell tools. A young college kid working there has been making plain leather carpenter bag belts for them. Quite thick and quality leather. He rivets harness style roller buckles on his belts. I removed it and added two heavy brass snaps so I can change buckles. "Viking Leather Products Made in Canada" is stamped inside the belt. This is the best belt I've seen in years. Should last the rest of my life.

Edit: Hmmm. Checked Viking's website. Apparently all that kid does to these belts is stamp the lumber company's name on the front side of the belt.

I have found that both SCI and DSC have vendors that offer great Cape Buffalo belts for a fair price. I have bought two and plan to buy a third this year

Tucker Gunleather makes the most bullet proof belts I’ve ever owned. My current daily wear belt from them was bought in 2016.

I am appealing to this august group, perveyors and possessors of all things quality and bespoke....I can't find a proper ALL LEATHER dress belt. The world is filled with abominations made of man-made materials, filled with foam, and bulged, cracked and torn in no time flat. And these are being sold in places like Macy's, etc. Why can I find harness leather hunting or casual belts, but nothing of lasting value in a dress belt?
I'm asking for your usual stellar advice on the matter. What are your favorite belts? And just to spice it up a bit while we're at it--what are your favorite quality casual belts as well?
Look up Beltman belts

It’s been awhile since I needed a belt.
But western shops and Leo supply shops.
I usto use a basket weave dress gun belt for every thing.

NOT a dress belt… or even a leather belt…

But the kuiu nylon belt is on sale this week for $19.99 (normally 39.99)…

I’ve got similar belts from 511, and tru-spec… the kuiu is far and away the most comfortable… it’s also got a metal buckle, which many other nylon “tactical” type belts lack (most have cheap plastic)…

Granted it lacks the rigidity of the 511 that I typically wear, which is far better for toting a pistol around…

But if you’re looking for an indestructible, comfortable, hunting belt, the kuiu is hard to beat… and at $19.99 I think it’s unbeatable…

FWIW kuiu is having a big sale this week both online and in their retail stores.. we visited the shop in Dallas this morning… if you buy $299 in merchandise (not at all hard to do at kuiu..) not only are you getting it all 25-50% off, they’re giving away a free nylon tote with the purchase (valued at $85)..

I purchased a nice buffalo leather belt from Lauriston Taxidermy while checking out his business on my recent trip to SA. Very nice and everyone is unique.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
