In memoriam - Jason Hairston Kuiu Founder has passed away

Very sad news. Great product and a great loss to the industry. My sincere condolences to the Family.

My condolences to his family. RIP

Very sad news, thoughts and prayers with his family

Jason was an absolute genius in business with founding both Sitka and Kuiu. These Iconic brands are nothing short of amazing in their innovation. I am terribly sad to hear this news. We must all realize that football is and has been causing brain damage that is rarely talked about.
What a loss.
RIP Jason,
Philip

Thoughts and Prayers to the family. Hunting the fields of heaven. RIP Jason!

Yes, 100%. Business genius created Sitka, sold it off to Gore-Tex & started Kuiu. All round good dude from all I have ever heard. Sad for sure!

Any further news on the exact cause of death?

Oh man. Rest In Peace brother.

Such sad news... condolences to the family.
RIP brother....

Thanksgiving in Canada is this weekend. We are cleaning up the house and I came across the Spring 2018 Kuiu catalogue. Inside the front cover is a picture of Mr Hairston and his son Cash. The entire catalogue is a tribute to a hunt he had with his son.

I am reminded again to take a moment to give thanks. Life can take some abrupt downward plunges, but where there is effort and love there is lift. I give thanks for my children, my family and my colleagues. Wherever Cash is right now I pray he is surrounded by love. I hope as he grows up he remembers the hunt presented in the catalogue, his father's strength, his vision and the impact he made on our fraternity.

Moral of the story of that video, don’t wait!
Sad ending to an amazing life.

@LivingTheDream , I know you did a similar hunt in the Yukon, as did I. I realize this video was also intended to be a bit of an infomercial for KUIU gear, but for the life of me I can't understand all "hunting" scenes with the full backpacks. Obviously, they hiked into their spike camp and carried everything on their back. I rode a horse and we had a few pack horses as well. But once spike camp is set up, travel light! A small day pack with rain gear, lunch, water and a few other essentials.

I was pondering that as well. I figured they might have pieced the footage together. The other thing I wondered was if they broke camp everyday so they could keep moving and spike out.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
