If you were to trim down your dangerous game rifle collection, which cartridge/rifle would you let go and why?

I have sold a couple of .416's. With two .375's and a double rifle with two sets of barrels I didn't see myself using them much. Plus I have too many guns as it is!

Any or all the caliber can go which are duplicate.

You better pack a lunch...that's going to take you a long time to accomplish!

I’d let the BRNO 602 in 458WM go before either M70 in 458. Same choice when it comes to the 375’s. I’d keep the Pre64 M70’s and sell the BRNO 375. I did recently let a duplicate transition period M70 in 375 go to a buddy for an upcoming hunt, keeping the one in better condition.
That's interesting. I have three (soon to be 4) 375's and the BRNO wouldn't be the first one to go. I like that rifle a lot since the safety is modified to 3 position. It might be the last to go!

I let go of a Ruger nr 1 in .450 NE ,swapped it later out to a .458 bolt.

Brass much easier to find, and with a few hundred types similar to .338 Win brass laying around its easier .

And swapped out .404 Jeffery to .375 HH

1 .375 is barrel for a R93 so count as part.

The other one which will get a refurbish later is a 1950s M70

500 JEFF
404 JEFF
375 H&H
12ga/9.3×74R and 12ga/12ga poormans double

They will all stay.......

I had the following:
1. 9,3x62 Type A Oberndorf Mauser
2. .375 Ruger Hawkeye Alaskan
3. .416 Ruger Hawkeye Alaskan
4. .450-.400 3&14” Gibbs Double
None of these will go anywhere soon

5. .458 Lott Brno ZKK602

Just bought a 1949 FN 9,3x62 to have one with a scope.

Sold the Lott for a number of reasons. I will in due course get another .458 calibre, either a .450 Rigby or Dakota.

He who dies with the most toys wins…

If I got rid of something, it would be a duplicate. Never bought a rifle I didn't have a good reason to buy...in my mind.

I’d swap one of my .404 Jeff’s for a .416 Taylor, keep one and sell the other two.
if I had a Taylor I’d sell all my 375’s , and 9.3’s but would still keep the Lott and 505’s.
My slimed down battery would include a .338 win , 404 , 416T , 458Lott ,505.

Swap you for the Gibbs double?

I only have one. Merkel Safari 375 H&H double.
So nothing to sell. Simple

I thought about this a while back and have started down sizing the big bores.
I still have a couple to go and they will be up soon for sale.
The 338 win mag and 416 Rigby will be next to go.
Keeping 2 375s, 458 Lott and 300 win mag. Plus my smaller calibers.

I'm not planning to liquidate any rifles, but if I had to, I'd start with a .375 H&H post 64 Model 70, followed by a similar .458 Winchester.

I've got a CZ 550 in .375 H&H and another in .416 Rigby, that I like better than the 70's.

I don’t have anything over 375 H&H, but if I did, it would be any thing over 375 H&H. Recoil adverse, and I can buy ammo almost anywhere.

I have three.
Ruger Hawkeye African in .375 Ruger
Ruger Hawkeye Guide Gun in .416 Ruger
Ruger Safari Magnum in .458 Lott
I have a Forbes M24B in 9.3x62. I do not consider that a dangerous game rifle. The caliber is amazing, but I will always err on the side of caution.
I love the .375, but I could part with it pretty easily.
I'm putting the RSM into a custom McMillan stock and have unfortunately invested way too much in the rifle. To be clear, it is beautiful and the caliber is fantastic.
To be honest, I could live very happily with the .416 Ruger. It feels the best to me and it will do anything I ever ask of it.

Any time. You have a Westley Richards droplock or a Rigby rising bite?
Rigby rising bite is a clunker - never wished to own one. Even Rigby quietly moved away from it to the Deely action..

Very cool, I am jealous of your 3 Rugers. I eagerly await the 416 guide guns to be in production again.
