If you could only keep three guns, what would they be?

500 Jeff ZKK602
9.3x74R O/U double(Krieghoff or Blaser)
7x65R Hubertus or K95 single shot

If I may add barrels the O/U will have another barrel set 7x57R/20ga with 22 Hornet insert barrel and the single shot another barrel 6.5x57R and perhaps a 28ga as well....

My feeling this morning anyway......

This is going to vary greatly on peoples location and needs.

I could do most things with a .22, a . 308 and a 12gauge.

Well I haven’t shot a rabbit in ages, but the .22 has been used for dispatching pests.

But wait, we use a .223 a lot for spotlighting and I don’t use my shotgun much.

I spend more time on the range than hunting atm so I need a target rifle and that doesn’t crossover with a hunting rifle rifle. Decisions, decisions

The last few years that I have been back in town and not working in remote location I have used my .280a.i for hunting and done a couple of trips with the .308.

The .300wm gets neglected but I’m not ready to sell it cheap and I would not want to part with my.375H&H until I have hunted Buffalo.

The first two are an easy choice:
- My incoming custom rifle in .375 H&H.
- My custom shotgun in 20/76.

The third one would be a tough choice between my Heym BBF26 Superluxus combination gun/cape gun or my Guerini Armi Chamois EELL kipplauf. The kipplauf is more elaborate/more beautiful but I would probably get more use of the Heym since thats the rifle/gun I use for hunting Black Grouse and Capercaille over my Finnish spitz. Meaning the Heym is the gun/rifle I use the most aside from the shotgun.

Blaser R8 and variety of barrels
Cosmi shotgun

And a 686+ and P226
Cosmi…interesting choice. I’ve never handled or shot one but they look pretty cool.

@BeeMaa —- YOU “cheated”, don’t go throwing in those Multiple Barrel/caliber Rifles… Now go take a seat in the back of the class !
( I do agree a 12ga or 20 ga - needs to be One of the guns).

If the stock of the R8 breaks, how many rifles would be operable? It’s ONE rifle with multiple barrels. Not my fault that @franzfmdavis didn’t have the foresight to anticipate this inevitable solution.

@franzfmdavis - wanted to let you know they are firearms, not guns. “THIS IS MY RIFLE, THIS IS MY GUN….THIS IS FOR FIGHTING AND THIS IS FOR FUN”. :ROFLMAO: Thanks Gunny, RIP.

I would leave it:

- Blaser S2 DB (.470 NE). For large animals, for shooting bears at close range.

- Sako 85 Kodiak (.375 H&H Mag). For everything. This is my main rifle.

- Saiga-308 (.308 Win). I don't like calibre .308 Win, but this version of the Kalashnikov is very good. The barrel is shortened, the stock is collapsible. Fits easily in a backpack. Such weapons are very suitable for the forest. And it is very convenient for expeditions when sailing in a boat.

Of course, this is not all my weapons. For example, I have a sniper rifle, but I don't hunt in the mountains. And I hardly hunt with a 12-gauge. It's nice to have different weapons in my arsenal, but I have some for nothing.

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John [redacted]

Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
You can see them in herds of a 100 plus together.

This excellent ram was taken with one of our previous client this past season.
