Identifying Mauser Model A vs B vs...?

Damn this thread is getting attention again and I'm looking back at that one rifle... Simpson also has a barreled action that I could maybe do something with.

Something most esoteric, just to have. .318 Westley-Richards, .350 Rigby. .425 Westley perhaps...

Sorry to necro this thread, but is this a late production Model B or something different? I know some had the Mauser markings on top and then covered by scope mounting later in the production cycle (or so I have read). Some items seem on point, but others seem off. Thank you.

Replacement clawmounts are probably a $2000 option in the USA.

Here in Germany, they ar about $1200-1500.

Heavily recommended to remove them and put some other sort of mount on.

Kaps Optik makes original looking modern optics for claw mounts, but someone needs to build the claw mount.

Any idea of this is actually a Mauser? Leaning toward maybe a GECO or something.

Not sure, looks like a 1950-1970's sporterized military rifle. I can't see the rest of the stock, the fore end looks off.

Triggers seem like FN DeLuxe double-set triggers. I would also say sporterized, 50's+? I have a similar one, including the stock fore end but with modified spoon handle.

Hi All, seems like this thread had a allot of knowledgeable Mauser experts and I would like to also highjack and ask a question about this "Mauser" action rifle I inherited . Full story ... It was my grandfathers hunting rifle living in South Africa it was handed down to my dad ( now 73 years old ) and now to me ( 42 ) . My father was born in 1952 and remembers my grand father hunting with it from a very young age. Markings I could find without taking it out of the stock attached. I can see they extended the stock aswell, and I know the 2 screws on top of the receiver is not original ( plate came loose and they lost the screws ) . I dont see the Mauser-Werke A.G. Oberndorf a.N printed anywhere but it does look like the crown B and U German proof markings. Any help would be appreciated. Edit -- did some googling and seems this is a "guild gun" maybe German not sure ( would have had Mauser markings , and the smooth stock that is not checkered. ) but any info would still be great.

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
