Ok so I've had this idea in my head for more than a week and I wanna write it down publicly because I know it's gonna soon leave like an angel's kiss
So here's the genesis of the idea. Every time I look at the news, I find it quite overwhelming as, no matter the affiliation, I feel it's just a lot to take in and there's a lot of yadda yadda. It makes it hard to actually follow stuff. A lot of chaff and but a few kernels of wheat if you wanna get poetic. I imagine a lot of people are like me so here's my idea
A website where you set up an account, put in some basic info about yourself (location would be dictated by ZIP Code), and then fill out a comprehensive survey on your political affiliations and inclinations for a wide variety of topics. This would be based on some of the Big 5 personality tests I've seen in psych class.
You'd be questioned on who you voted for in past elections (Just president and for the rest, lump it under a scale of how many you filled in as R or D)
You can come back and do this test at any time if you feel you changed btw; I want that to be an option as we're a flexible bunch
Once you're all done, you get a dashboard with information such as...
What your affiliation was scored as
News relating to the things you showed greatest interest in
Special interest groups/NGO's that are the most relevant to your political interests
Representatives/politicians in other states across the country with whom you share political interests as well as their social media and contact information. Maybe also an AI that can help write emails.
Local news
During election season, which candidates score the closest to you on key issues
I feel this would help a lot of the undecided majority get a better grip on how to engage in politics and for it to be less intimidating.
This idea probably has a fair share of holes but I think it'd do well. Right now, I think the people who made Ground News would be best
