South Africa, Ohio, Texas, Tennessee, Indiana, Mississippi, Louisiana, Maine, Alabama, Georgia, Washington, Wyoming,,, I am sure I missed one or two states.
Anyone ever use these people? I usually take Rand from the last trip on the next trip but I guess I spent it all. I see they have several Kiosks in ATL and it looks like I can pre-order Rand. I usually just exchange in stores or through my PH or hit the ABSA nearest to camp. I think it’s always a good idea to carry a little, especially when they hold their hand out for a tip and you give them R20,,, talk about a shitty look.

I get mine through my bank also. Just go in and order what I want in the denominations that I want. Couple days later I'll get a phone call to come pick it up.

I will give my bank a call tomorrow!

I have found the best rates at Johannesburg Airport, behind security, before entering the public area. There seems to be a different rate between that kiosk and the ones open to the public.

Make sure your credit card is working and has a pin. Call them and notify about the trip. Use the ATM in the airport on arrival. Anything else and you will be cheated.

I’ve used ABSA before over there and had no issues.

I called my bank, which is a smaller bank in Kentucky. They confirmed they doing fact order in Rand and I was told only to give them a week to order and get it in. She said they do the highest rate of the week so thanks for the info all!!!!!

I get my Rands at an international monetary exchange nearby. I talk to the PH, get a breakout of staff (the PH, tracker and skinner are always a given),crunch the numbers by the going tip percentage, then request the total amount broken in the specified bills so I have the exact amount for each. I embarrassed myself once, had to talk to my PH offline, and sent him the money in a bank transfer. Wouldn't you know too, she was the best support I had out of all my safaris to date!
