No it's not, but we are still not hearing from the person who actually purchased the rifle. All we are hearing is what he said through a second party that may be quite biased.

If the buyer really feels that he got screwed over there is always small claims court or an arbitrator, not a public forum.

I think others deserve the warning. It was sold through this public forum and the feedback is now given on this public forum. I’d have no idea how to proceed with small claims court when those involved reside in different states. Easier said than done. There is an expectation of honesty when making a classified ad on this site. It seems certain individuals want to downplay that. The pictures tell the story.

Are you willing to publicly share your buying experience with @Rare Breed ? You mentioned it earlier. Seems fitting to explain if you are going to bring it up. This isn't to say you're lying. Just that it could shed light on a pattern of behavior and to help others.

He didn’t keep his word on a deal. Didn’t cost me anything but time and a few bs pms i laughed at the threats of being ousted by the forum if i mentioned it publicly.

At this point after this many pages on this thread. Take the lesson on who to deal with and move on. I have had a ton of fantastic transactions with some very honest ppl on this platform.

In fact i will personally donate $500 to AH because to me my word is way more important. Ive found my word makes me successful.

Nobody’s going out of state to small claims court for $500 plus. Try and resolve it the best way you can and if unsuccessful you eat the loss.

Correct. Small claims court usually applies to situations where the claimant and defendant reside in the same jurisdiction. One can win a claim but how does the court enforce it if defendant lives in another jurisdiction? Not easy. Sometimes impossible. Mediation only works if it's binding and typically that requires both parties to be in agreement. Do you really think this vendor would have agreed to binding mediation? Pfft.

I want to personally thank franzfmdavis for bringing this to our collective attention. Thank you !! I have read the entire thread and am astounded by some of the negative reactions towards him. How else are we supposed to learn of dishonest practices of sellers on this site ? Two indisputable facts were presented; First, the item was grossly misrepresented and two, the seller did not keep his word and refused to follow through with the agreed upon remedy. Franzfmdavis could have kept his mouth shut, which is probably what the seller was counting on, and the next guy would have got burnt.

I appreciate your sentiment very much. I also think that it is a collective benefit for the forum.

I also appreciate the insight of those who do not agree with me. I have made many mistakes in my life and would have learned the lessons needed much more slowly if people around me would have stayed quiet.

Seems you may have taken that a bit personally but my request wasn't aimed that way. You made a claim so it seems fitting to expand a bit which you have. Thanks for sharing.


As far as this topic goes, I've always been aware that I could get screwed out of some or all of my money when making purchases over the internet. The best I can do is make the best educated decision I can and weigh the monetary risk according to what I can afford. Luckily I haven't been burned too bad and never on this forum or any hunting forum actually. Unfortunately in this instance, the seller seems to have burned himself trying to sell a rifle at top price with outdated pictures. Bumps and bruises are fine but disclose the severity and learn how to take decent pictures or find someone who can. Don't make excuses. Also, never underestimate how fickle people can be when it comes to money.
