I’m really tired of the US Post Office

If true, is the USPS committing mail fraud?

I purchased a rifle from a private party earlier this month. My payment via Certified Mail through the USPS took 7 days to arrive. The rifle from the seller to my FFL took 2 days to arrive via UPS? Guess I’ll start shipping letters in rifle boxes via UPS? Ha! Ha!

I just bought a .375 on gunbroker and it took almost two weeks for the money order to get from Pennsylvania to Texas. Then the guy sent the gun USPS and that sat in Houston for two weeks. And this was before the winter weather had any impact on that region. I started bitchin to the post office about it and it finally arrived at my FFL 5 1\2 weeks after I mailed the payment. My local mail guy says its bc of all the Amazon crap they're delivering now. He makes multiple trips to the post office each day to load up more packages . Our mail comes about 4-5 days a week now and its after dark when it gets here. Bunch of bullshit if you ask me. I'm gonna start sending my credit card payment by UPS so it will get there before its late lol

Yeah, I don’t think the USPS is/has been prepared for the surge in volume of packages from on line shopping recently. It seems to have hampered the delivery times of standard mail?

Seems like they would have been behind months ago if online shoppers were the issue. I did a lot of shopping online during quarantine lol. All I know is my mails late as hell all the time now. But I did eventually get the gun so I guess that's a positive outcome lol

Just do it all online if you can. I have a separate checking account set up that I transfer money in and out of depending on what I have to pay. Most of my CC's are set up for automatic withdrawal from that checking account. And with me transferring money in and out of it as needed I don't worry too much if someone hacks it. They are going to get very little unless they happen it do it when I place money in it to pay a CC. I also have all of my bills going to a CC.

The less that I have to deal with USPS the better.

I probably should but I'm a stubborn basterd about technology and bank accounts lol it took me quite a while to join this forum. I've really only been using the Internet for about 8 months lol

That is super frustrating!

I have packages that are important to me held at the local hub/office and then pick them up. It's more effort but at least I'm not stressing about it all day waiting for when or if it actually shows up. Also, If you are kind to the local people they are lots better to deal with though sometimes that requires a bit of tongue biting. The frustrating things still happen especially out side the local system but for me this has helped a lot.

It seems some of this started really getting bad about the time Trump called them out for being inefficient and slow, in other words a typical bureaucracy. I have a suspicion that they, from top to bottom, have been and are still throwing a "postal hissy fit", using what has become the standard excuses like: covid, the weather, Christmas rush, Amazon, increased business and you name the excuse to jam the works.

You'd think that with increased usage they would have increased operating revenue which in turn would allow them to keep up with the increased usage. However, I don't think they think that way. I believe they were perfectly happy plugging along in an old, lazy mail/package service, quasi governmental bureaucracy culture, periodically going to Uncle Sam for bail outs- kind of stuck in a marginal business model with a lowest common denominator mentality keeping the status quo....which appears to be their comfort zone.

I think your absolutely right with all of the above. They’re a giant quasi governmental bureaucracy that doesn’t have to answer to the citizens they serve. They’ve been slow and inefficient for years, but it’s become worse in my view in the last several years with all the packages being mailed to and fro.

I may lose my title as Captain of the Luddite Society!

Post office is government subsidized advertising. Ups and FedEx do not want that mail order catalogs and ads to deliver. They should just get rid of it. Amazon will eventually deliver their own stuff.

Try it where I live in Alaska. You will love USPS in about 5 minutes. UPS and FEDEX can kiss my behind.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
Behind the scenes of taking that perfect picture.....

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
