HUNTING Wildebeest

That is a golden ending to your first day hunting in Africa. Conrgrats.

I love Wildebeest! This guy died within 10 feet of where he was hit. 375 H&H with a 300 grain TSX at about 150 yards.

Was in FreeState in December 2016 w/Bushmans Quiver Safari and had one day to Hunt Black Wildebeest. ....Our hunt started early in the morning. Got one shot b4 noon but missed a nice one.... After lunch we chased herds of these critters all afternoon b4 tracker/skinner, Punge', was able to get me close enough for a one shot kill at 200+ yards with my trusty 30.06 Custom Griffin & Howe 1903 Springfield in the last part of the day

Blue /black Wildebeest are great to hunt, meat is excellent, they are not over priced usually. Here is a photo of my son, Ruan with his first Black wildebeest he shot. Bullet recovered as well, 180 gn Barnes TSX, from a 8 mm Mauser ( .323) ..more than enough gun for these beautiful animals..it dropped on the spot, 150 meter shot.

Wildebeest vs. Slick Trick Magnum

Shot penetrated through offside shoulder with the ferrule breaking through the hide. Wildebeest hit the dirt like he was hit by a wrecking ball but did get back on his feet and made it 50 yards before expiring in the middle of the road. No dragging or tracking required.

This was a 23 yard shot with a 150 grain VPA 3 blade broadhead on a 29" Easton FMJ arrow with 50 grains of brass weight behind the insert out of a 65 lb compound. The arrow was about 10 yards beyond where the bull was standing. Razor sharp broadhead and a well tuned semi heavy arrow are a good combination for African game. Shot placement is critical though. He ran about 150 yards before falling over like a large Oak.

Good Morning x84958
I have read your post about Jamy Traut and your hunt in Caprivi. I am planning such a hunt for 2026, Oct with Jamy.
Just a question , because I will combine Caprivi and Panorama for PG, is the daily rate the same the week long, I mean the one for Caprivi or when in Panorama it will be a PG rate ?
thank you and congrats for your story.
Best regards
Philippe from France
