Hunting Officially Banned in Botswana from 2013

from what ive heard is that the official word is that hunting will only be banned 20 miles from all national parks which is most of the concessions.

however if land is privately owned and fenced the game can be hunted at will as the government cant ban private land hunting.

Hi

Sorry to bring up this topic again. But does anybody know now for sure that it is "official"? Honestly this just doesnt make any sense.

There have been many changes in Botswana.
Over the last five years there have been many news releases on the subject.
The way this was forwarded from a mass email got everyone worried.
BUt, the change is coming form everything I can find from any source.

Big game hunting will apparently continue in the following concessions:

Butler &Holbrow Safaris / Chobe Enclave CH1/2 - end of 2013

Calitz Hunting Safaris / Mababe NG 41 - end of 2017

Hunting on private game farms is not effected.

Elephant hunting will continue in some fashion. Ongoing "take off" for management.

Since there is NO Professional Hunters Association in BW, so I can not send you to them to ask.

Nothing really new in what I have said here, just a reiteration really.

Hi

Ill take that as confirmation.

So basicly 2017 will be the end of Botswana hunting "in the concessions" .... So no more buffalo ..since the foot and mouth thing is taken very seriously, so thats a no go on private land. Basically your looking at kalahari plains game from there on with the odd leopard hunt.

Sad news.

Sad to say but it looks like Botswana will be the next Kenya! What a dirty shame for such a game rich country!

Hi Jon,
I saw your post for the .500 NE cases. Are these all brass or are they nickel plated? Hard for me to tell... sorry.
Thanks,
