Areas also can make a weather/temperature/rain difference. Example I was in Limpopo and Northwest this past May with beautiful weather! 40 F nights and 70 F days. I read it was much colder then on the Karoo.

Oh also (as someone else said) the Impalas were going crazy breeding in May. Pretty exciting watching and hearing them “growl”!
