Huge Buffalo video from Uganda

This posted on the Coenraad Vermaak YouTube channel. Video from the Kidepo National Park in Northern Uganda. There are 4 or 5 scrum cap bulls, some super wide bulls, a huge bull ele. Magnificent animals...

Quite majestic.

Personally, animals that are truly exceptional like that should be allowed to walk and spread the genetics. Pound hard on the low end.

Thanks for sharing the video. (y)

Great video, thanks for posting!

Well made video - nice.

Seems to me a better name might have been short-maned zebra.

And is it just me? That scrum cap at the 1:13 mark looked HUMONGOUS (body).
It’s called a Sudan maneless zebra. It’s a unique subspecies.

I saw that. But when they showed that herd, several had sort bristly hair, so seems like short-maned might have been more accurate. :p

From watching videos ir seems that Uganda has an unusually high percentage if scrum cap bulls. Does anyone know why?

Regardless I want to go there some day.

I think it would be a function of large numbers of buffalo, the right age class, and high visibility. I don’t know the percentages elsewhere but do know I just finished a buffalo hunt without ever seeing an entire buffalo due to thick brush. I also wonder what the lion population there is? They have a big effect on old bulls elsewhere.

What is the light colored tan buff at 2:50? I’ve not seen that before.
West/Central African savanna buffalo genetics. I was watching a different video of hunting buffalo in Uganda and PH explained it was the meeting point of cape, Nile, savanna buffalo genetics and could be seen easiest in coloration of calves.

I just watched this video this morning while scrolling Youtube. He is a monster. Magnificent bull.

That’s an incredible sight

Lots of straight up warriors in that video. That buffalo at the end was something.

I hunted Uganda in March this year and it was likely my best African Safari. I'll be back there again
in mid Feb to early March. Our buffalo hunting was tough. the bulls were in big hurds not in bachelor
groups. Got one nice bull but never saw a scum cap which was my primary target. Was lucky enough to get a hugh Maneless Zebra stallion. Was able to get all 3 of the Bushbuck and a nice Jackson Hartebeest and a magnificent East African Oribi. In another camp on the Nile River got a Ugandan Kob. Hunted a south camp and got a Sitatunga. My hunting partner took a tremendous Jackson Hartebeest (definitely a top 10 maybe even a world record) and a magnificent Sitatunga. I want to thank Christian Weth, Mini Trappe for a great hunt. Will hunt 2026 with my good friend and PH Thierry Labatt goal will be a couple big bulls hopefully a scrumcap and another Jackson Hartebeest and Sitatunga.

Great footage

I wonder what caused the wounds on the zebra leg and buffalo shoulder

Nice video! Thanks for sharing this footage.

He is an incredible bull but to young to shoot let him pass on his genetics until he is past breed age.

Now the scrum caps and the really worn down bulls are right at the top of my hunting preference.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
