Howdy from Arizona

Welcome welcome welcome

Greetings Azklmsr,

Khomas Highland Hunting and Fishing Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

Looks like you and your wife are all booked up for your first African Safari.
I look forward to your hunt report and especially and photos you might want to share.

Best Regards,
Velo Dog.

Welcome to AH Azklmsr!

You'll do just fine. I booked my first safari on impulse and was on the plane within three months. It was a "beginners" plains game package but I came back with much more including a buffalo which was totally unplanned. I would advise obtaining your outfitter's trophy fee list before you leave and commit it to memory. Something is bound to turn up that's not on your list. Make sure you can afford it.

I'm also an old deer hunter with a lifetime of solo stalking ungulates in snow. Africa was quite a change and I wasn't sure how that would work for me. It was great. I had no problems shooting off sticks for the first time but you may want to play around with them first. I used a rental rifle for the buffalo that I shot once at the range before sending a bullet through its heart. Take your own guns or rent them, it's up to you. Either way will work fine. Don't worry about it (but don't wait till the last minute to make up your mind).

Welcome Azklmsr, who have you booked with? Get some practice shooting off sticks, sure you and your wife will thoroughly enjoy.

Welcome from AZ as well. Did our first trip over last year. Had an amazing time. Be interested to see who you’re going with and what’s on the critter list!

Welcome to AH.

:S Welcome:

From a valley desert dweller welcome to AH! Whereabouts in AZ do you call home?

Good day! Welcome to AH from our side too!

Looking at a Buff, Kudo, Gemsbuck, Wildebeest, Zebra, Impala for the first target. 10 days ish.

ElkEater, I see you are an AZ gent as well! Have you ever done the mule deer hunt on Catalina. It's short hop for my plane and was thinking about doing that in October.

Welcome! Certainly glad to have you here with the rest of us!

I will be taking my 30-06 and 375. I got a fair amount of hunting in when younger in the last millennia (or was it the one before that? getting old) and some in AZ over the last few decades. After killing it at work, retired and wanting to get a few dreams checked off. I like your message on memorizing trophy fees!

That’s a great list! Buff on the first trip. I like it.

I am another AZ guy. Live in Globe. Can’t say I’ve done done the Catalina hunt. Only been here for about 5 years and have pretty much just focused on coues deer, and bear locally at least as far as AZ goes.

Good day. My wife and I are taking our first safari summer of 2026. PG and Buff in SA. Lots to learn for an old deer hunter!

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob

Good morning. I see that you had a Sauer 202 for sale for $3,000. Did you sell it at that price?
I have one for sale as well. I listed it (on here ) at $3,000 as well. Is the price high, low or right where it should be?

Thanks. Alex. [redacted] in case you want to call me to discuss further. I appreciate your time help and support.

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.
