How well rounded is your cartridge collection?

I have been working on my collection a while, and I for sure have some overlap. One thing I think is missing is a 35cal, and I would love to get a 350 Rigby in the collection. Before that happens though, I need to get the 8x68s in, and stock it, and also re-stock the 9.3x64, it need a beefier weightier stock and work on the 7x65r project. At least I have my projects mapped out, even if they will take years.

In terms of which cartridges you own, do you have everything covered from ground hog to bull elephant?

I try to avoid as much overlap as possible and tend to “skip” every other caliber class, with a few exceptions.

I currently own:

22LR
223/5.56
6.5x55
7.62x39
308
30.06
338 WM
9mm
38 spl / 357 Mag
375HH
416 Rigby
45-70
458 Win Mag
470 NE
12g

See any obvious gaps?

Just 3 gaps: 44 spl/mag handgun, a couple of muzzleloaders, preferably something in a 30 cal and something in 45, 50, or 60 cal long guns, and a 28 and/or 16 gauge shotgun.

I'm wondering about that saying- something about the guy who has ONE gun will be very GOOD with it.
That is normally true, depending on how much one shoots the other guns. I shoot a bit of them every year, and have been shooting since I was 4. I'm a well rounded shooter, from rabbits to grizzly, with several different types and styles of guns, from 17 to 8 bore. So, what I do is pick the gun I'm going to hunt with that year and take it out and run it through its paces, from bench to off hand. Just to re-familiarize myself with it, same thing with a shotgun and pistol. The key, I think is state of mind and practice. When I was a kid, I remember old guys bragging about using the same 20 round box of ammo for years..they only owned gun. I shoot more then that, just messing around each year, with multiple guns, several hundred rounds.
