Thinking about selling my pre-64 Win. 70 custom gun and am trying to figure out the best way to get a value since it's a fairly unique build. I know Sportsman's Legacy in Kalispell deals in fine guns and as a last resort I could probably take it up there, but am wondering if you gentlemen know of any other reputable sources? Thanks for any insight.

This site is probably as good of a place as anywhere. Just throw out the outliers.

My only cancel from my experience of buying two “custom” rifles NIB on our own AH forem is members be careful…nothing whatsoever against the members that sold them given they did not build them but both had extraction issues from factory loaded ammunition after firing with both each costing me over $1k to have fixed. Just me I will never buy another “custom” NIB rifle that has not been fired many times first with no problems. Not meaning to be negative I just cringe when I see “custom” rifle listings but GLWS

Sportsman's Legacy? It's been a few years since I've been in Kalispell but don't recall that outfit. Was that formerly Sportsmans Ski House?

Can we see what you have? Many on here are gun traders (but not me) and can give you an idea of worth. Do you know who did the work? That can make a huge difference in evaluating a custom build.

Sportsman's Legacy has been in Kalispell for a few years at least. Operated by a gentleman who used to be associated with Kimber of Oregon. You can check the website. He deals primarily in higher quality firearms. The rifle I have was done by the late Robert Snapp of Michigan. He was the president of the ACGG (American Custom Gunmakers Guild) back in the '90's if I recall. I'll do some more research and then will know if I want to sell or not. Thanks for all the insight to this point.

They are hard to sell much less get close to the original investment. My dad told me this years ago and of course I always knew better. Bone stock all original with a reasonable price and you can recover, mostly. I’ve done way too many of them, might get .50 on the dollar if lucky. It’s better to keep them or give them to someone you like.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob
